So Wednesday night, I was going to make a different post saying how much I hate wet leaves. I decided I didn't care enough, lol. Today though, I need to explain why. So, I've been living in a house for a few years now. I've been riding a motorcycle daily for over 3. This particular house has many trees that produce many many leaves. The drive way also happens to be sloped towards the house. It rained here on Wednesday and there were lots of leaves on the driveway. I knew this as I was coming into the driveway and I was slowing down and taking the precautions I always do as I pull into the driveway, swing to the right, stop, and back up to the left to back the bike into the garage. Well, apparently I wasn't going slow enough. Before I can even lean to turn to the right, the front bars lock right and down I go thinking this f-ing sucks. I slide and the bike slide downhill towards the house. Now, I was only going maybe 7 or 10 mph so I know I'm perfectly fine and I wear a textile jacket. But it was still embarrassing. Luckily it was dark and the neighborhood was quite. Obviously I am pissed but there's nothing to do but pick myself and the bike up and hope it didn't do anything serious. It didn't, everything's fine actually. Thank you frame sliders and I'm so glad I ride a naked bike.

Anyway, I decide I'll rake the driveway now because I'm not interested in this happening again. Driveway gets raked and I go inside with a bruised ego and upper thigh.

Today, I am coming home from school like always and it's dark again. No rain this time so no worries. I go to pull into my driveway but stop. Someone has removed the leaves that have blown back onto the driveway in pretty much the exact path I take coming in and turning right to then stop and back up the bike. I'm thinking who did this? Only one of my roommates was home when I wrecked and he didn't even hear me. I looked around when it happened and thought no one saw me. Nobody called out to me to ask if I was alright or even came out of their house to see what the noise was when it happened. (I figure a 400lb motorcycle hitting a concrete driveway would make a good thud) Not only that but how do they know almost exactly the path I take when pulling into my driveway to park the bike? I asked both my roommates if they did it and they both said no. The one roommate told me our neighbors to the left were raking leaves today though when she came home. So the only thing I can think is that maybe they heard me fall and today cleaned my driveway again. They are a nice young couple and he rides as well. My neighbors to the right are the *******s who tried to steal my identity. If it was one of them, I'd be more blown away by this than I could imagine. It may have been the neighbors across the street too though. I honestly haven't a clue. I'm going to have to go visit and find out. It's instances like this that help me hold on to my belief that while the world is f-ed up and there's a lot of crappy people out there, there are a lot of good people out there as well.

Thanks for sharing. There are good seeds out there. Just seems like the bad outweigh them though.

One bit of advice for you. Invest in a leaf blower(gas preferably). Makes moving leaves a lot easier.

Keep the rubber side down

lol I have one of those things. It's just that I stay so busy with school work that I keep putting it off. I need to get on the roof and clean it off while I'm off from school for Thanksgiving.

At first I thought this story was going to end badly.

Glad you are ok.

As a fellow rider I am glad that you are ok, there are a bunch of great people out there and I know the bad out weight the good but hell we keep trying to change the world one person at a time..

as another rider, I shudder to think about any wet, sloped, leafy pavement.

glad you're ok though, hopefully the bike damage isn't too bad.

Great story. Instead of trying to figure out who did it, why don't you do something nice for both of your neighbors? Karma is good all around.

Yeah, I might try that one Andrew. Thanks for the idea.

Bike damage was bar end mirror crushed and brake handle broken. Brake foot pedal was tweaked but I untweaked it. Like I said, I'm glad I have frame sliders.

Oh and it's raining again today and the damn leaves are on the driveway. I think the trees have it out for me :) I'm glad I also have a truck.

Thanks for sharing your story, it warmed my heart. I still believe there are more good people than bad in this world. I say this even after some serious evil came into my family's life in march of 2008. Nothing better than random acts of kindness. Pass it on!

A few months back, my 4 year old son and I were out running some errands. We pulled into the Taco Johns drive thru to get some grub for the ride home. When we pulled up to the window to pay and get our food, the lady said "Your food is already paid for, the car in front of you paid for yours too". I looked up and saw the car getting ready to pull out onto the road. The driver waved and drove off. Out of County plates and definitely nobody I knew.

Good story Nate. Once I get a real job, I may have to do that every now and then myself. I'll be making good money and an extra $10 for someone else's meal every so often really isn't that big of a deal.
