i was always told that C5 brakes will NOT fit in 16" wheels, but i had to try my FRONT camaro rs wheel. i put a rag over the caliper so that i wouldn't scratch the paint trying to fit a 16" wheel on it, and the wheel wouldn't turn. pulled the rag off slowly, and the wheel does turn. there is maybe 2 mm of space between the caliper and the inside of the wheel. the rag was thick enough to keep the wheel from turning. pretty close, but it will fit.

stoptech.com says 2mm clearance is acceptable.

Verify that edge of the caliper does not touch the rim or the spoke. A minimum of 2mm (0.080") is recommended. http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/wheel_fitment.shtml

too close for comfort for me, so i went w/ 17s.

go to www.kore3.com and they have templates for the C5 brakes you can use to check clearance. If its close you can always use longer studs and a THIN spacer...
