Got all the fall yard/leaf clean up finally done yesterday (76 bags of leaves)as well as a bunch of running around and get to spend the whole day today out in the garage...... putting a new 20 ga metal top on the work bench I had bent up last week, pull the race car out and put the Iroc up on the lift and give it a real good once over after the track day at Mosport last Wed.....doesn't matter what I'm doing out there I love it!.....Susi laughs when she comes out there and at the same time I have the TV on some sort of a race or Powerblock and I have the stereo on listening to my classic rock station.....works for me!.

Absolutely, if I could spend time there every single day I'd be happy. I go there to relax, to rebuild, to think clearly, to let my creative side show...it's a good thing.

My garage = decompression chamber

Go in there, open up a beer, turn on some tunes and mess around with one of my many projects and forget about the rest of the daily problems in life.

a good lawn mower with a nice, sharp blade gets rid of the need for all those garbage bags full of leaves by making them into free fertilizer. it also leaves more time to sit in the garage and stare at your stuff.

too many ground up leaves will eventually screw up the chemical make up of your soil and your grass wont grow......mulched grass.....good....ground up (maple) leaves...... bad.....happened at my old house, lived there for 14 yrs.....had a company come in to see why the grass wouldn't grow worth a chit.....they took a soil sample to analyze.....came back my soil was so acidic they were surprised any grass grew at all.....said to stop grinding the leaves in and had to give the lawn lime treatments......turned things right around completely in 1 to 2yrs.....got so I didn't even use fertilizer on the lawn at all and it was just as nice as my next door neighbors who had the top of the line Weed Man package.....and was way more resistant to drought than his.....I hardly watered at all....then I moved of course.....been there.

I left my leaves on the ground, they finally blowed in my neighbors yard! LOL I spent all day working on my mini tubs and mocking up the wheels. Feels good to work in the garage, been working alot of overtime this year.

Yeah, I like to be out in the garage....even cleaning up after finishing a job is good....or kicking back with a cold one while puzzling out the next project job.

I am enjoying having a garage for the first time. I haven't bought a project yet, but I am starting to piece together a 6.0L LSX motor. I have already decided that even though I like my house a lot, at some point in time we will have to move to a place with some land so I can build a detached shop.

My garage is too small, under-equipped, drafty, too cold in the winter and too hot in the summer.

But it is my innersanctum.

My garage is only the average 2 car garage, but it has a smooth floor, a few tools, lamps, and I can work on a car even if it is raining outside.
It is perfect.
Now, when I win the Mega Millions, I'll have to expand to 8 bays, in & out drive thru, water and drainage, and about another 1,800-2,000 sq ft, but for now, it's great.

I look forward to the garage-time when I can get it in.
Been working a lot on this clunker Ebay 66 Impala Vert. Teaching myself to weld.
Once the Camaro is out of Jail, it will rule the garage.

"Decompression Chamber".....no doubt.

Im lucky, I live about 2 miles from my dad who has a 3 car garage. We work on all our cars there. My dad has 3 cars. I have another three. But two of mine stay at the apartment with me and my falcon lives in my grandmas garage (about 4 miles from my place). There is no way i would leave my falcon outside. I need a house with a 3 car garage and a clean room for engine assembly then a shop room for machine work. My mill, lathe, drill press, disc sanders, band saw and grinders would all be in that one room.

I want a setup like Vdavie. Room to work, a few bays and a lift would be awesome. I really like that Chevelle too BTW.

I've only had it for a few months, but I gotta say... I freaking love my garage!!!! I haven't had my own garage my entire adult life, and for the last 10 years I didn't even have regular access to a garage and had to rely on the generosity of friends. But now that I've got my own, it's like having a slice of heaven. It's not even that nice, but the family seems to like to hang out in it. It's a decent size so my kids can play soccer in it while I work on the car, and the really amazing thing is that my wife has actually come out and hung out with me while I was working on the car. That, by itself, makes it a pretty freaking fantastic place.

It's my second favorite room in the house. 1st is the kitchen because I enjoy cooking as much, if not more than working on the car. Can't eat the car.

The kitchen isn't as relaxing a place though. Nothing like spending a couple of hours out there after work. Especially if there is a baseball game on the radio and some cold beer in the fridge.

One thing every guy need to do if he has a good size garage or warehouse or whatever is throw a party. I did it 2 years ago, had a buch of food done, heat lamps (it was in Dec) ECT.. The problems starts after a few beers and eveybody wants to start the cars up..all at once..the folks living across the street didnt think it was so cool...shut down by the local police an hour later..after they got some food and checked out the cars of course

I have been working so much OT I haven't worked in the shop for almost a year and half. Any time I did have was spent on house stuff and just maintenance. Bad Ast has been on hold and I can't tell you how frustrated I've been getting.
The good news is I have been put on 40 hours for a while. The program I am working on is winding down so a little cutting back is allowable. This weekend will be spent setting up my 2 post hoist and running 220 into the new part. Once the hoist is in Bad Ast is going on it...

I hate my garage. It's 22x24 and fairly well equipped, but I grew up on a farm with a 48x52 heated shop and a 50x96 shed. I've been spoiled.

I just moved to a different house with an unfinished garage and have realized in less than a month how much I REALLY liked my finished heated garage with a good stereo, fridge and cable, even if it was a small awkward space with low ceiling height and posts down the middle. Sheetrock and insulation on the new one will come after I find a job. I brought along the heater so I don't have to rebuy that, sure wish I could have brought the floor drains. It's still a smaller 2 car but I will love it. The floors could be smoother though.

You know, this is a funny topic. My wife and I are what some would consider perpetual house hunters. Always looking at different homes on a rainy weekend, etc. Funny, because I won't even look at a house without enough space to build a "dream car" garage, and wifey is finally onboard as well. We get asked all the time by relatives and friends, "why would you need so much land?" Um, to build a damn large garage, duh!

I'm grateful for my standard 2 car attached, but someday, I'll be building the garage-ma-hal.

Nothing better then sitting in your garage watching a race or Smokey and the Bandit, with some buddies and a stocked beer fridge. Save for driving your car.

I think a barn woud be pretty cool to have..think of all the things you can do to it. In my warehouse you can only do so much because of city code ect..With your own barn you can do as you dam well please.

i usually put my projects in my parents barn....its nice to have all that space and you can even do concrete floors, big overhead lights ect... but when it comes to temperature control...you dont have much...at least i dont lol

very cool!.....It took 7 yrs from the time I decided that I couldn't do what I wanted to do at my old house/property and needed to move..... to the time I moved and got the shop built and cars/boat in it.....

I actively looked for the better part of two yrs and at 17 different houses/properties before I settled on the property we have now.....then I had to fix up the house that was on it and make it livable to my standards.....then plan and build the shop

it can be a long process but totally worth it and when I'm 80 I will still be here.
