Hey guys.. thought you might like these in car vids from the event.
First up is the autocross.. my pump died at the starting line of the first lap.. just great. I thought about asking for time to fix it before the next two laps but since I had started the event it didn't seem fair, so we sucked it up and ran as hard as I could. Ended up in the 43/44 second range. CAUTION: some bad language (I must of picked up from Mary).

After a quick trip to autozone we had a replacement pump and Dave and I were able to get it on the car pretty quick. Jimi let me do an exhibition run "just to see" and nab a few photos for the story. Ran a 42 on the first lap. Oh well, that's how racing goes. Still, it was a fun course.

Lastly here are the three timed laps with David Pozzi behind the wheel.. He said the car felt better and easier to drive, but he wasn't happy with his line. Hell, it looked good to me! lol -- we also started having some clutch issues. Maybe the clutch master or TO since it didn't seem to want to fully release causing Dave a few missed shifts. Dave is going to overlay the data from this event and last year's lap.

The giggling fool in the vid is Tyler. Sorry for the tiny glitch at the beginning.

Great seeing everyone and it was a fun event.. although it was more than a bit hectic.

Looks like you had a tough time wrestlin the car sans PS. Question- on the second vid, @24 seconds, the center IP lights up like a Cylon's faceplate. Is this a shift light?

Moved from SoCal to Detroit just before Spring Mountain opened, so I don't recognize visual cues. Were they using the 2.2 mile exterior course?

Our fuel pump gave out 2x on the autocross laps before it crapped out finally in the parking lot. Autozone must have been hopping that day, because we hit them up for a Walbro pump. After going through about 15 different models, we landed on the right one, and got the car back up.

Finished up running all of the events, and we're 2000 miles back into the return trip.

They were running the 2.2 mile track, though that is not the largest configuration possible. The Radical loop (not shown on the map I linked) was open next door and running a simple arrive and drive type event.

Ignore the access roads which have the 1A, 1B, and 2A labels.

So which pump ended up fitting? I heard rumors of a pump meant for a '96 Mustang or something.

Guess most of us have been there with suddenly finding no power steering...heavy, eh? You did very well with the handicap.
Question....what is the digital display set up above the centre instrument showing?

The numbers on the left is RPM with a shift lite above them. Not sure about the numbers on the right...

Like I said in the video.. "thank God for Autozone" -- hey, maybe I could sell that the clip as an endorsement?

Glad you got that pump fixed. Nice seeing you at the event.

Tach on the left, MPH on the right.

The christmas tree deal is a sequential shift light I'm still messing with. The first lights come on too soon (my rev limitier is set at 6900)

My car uses a bushed pump with the same shaft as a 2002 Camaro SS. The one the died was tricked out, but in a pinch one from the 4th get works.

it looks like the numbers on the right are the speed in MPH. its just hard to see the decimel point. example 29.6 mph

Numbers on the right are MPH with decimal.

Penny was down to 2800 rpm's in a couple of spots, I probably should have gone to second gear in turn 4, and stayed in 3rd before turn 3, Looks like I wasted time shifting to 4th then right back to 3rd there. lots of low rpm bog coming off the turns.

Top speed was 118, faster than last year at 111, I hit higher MPH on almost every spot on the course compared to last year due to a better line and balance plus having all 8 cyls. I let off WAY too early for turn 8, and braked too much. Cornering G's were 1.1 to 1.2 with spikes higher to 1.4 and 1.5 but they were just bumps. I was surprised to see cornering G's almost exactly the same as last year. We should have seen higher numbers with the better tires. I pushed them til they felt they were getting loose, but it may have been possible to push them even more. I was told Hoosier recommends not to slide them too much, where last year on the R888's I pushed them hard to get heat in them. Braking G's were -1G max.

So you learned alot from overlapping the two events? That RacePak stuff is pretty cool.

That's right - '96 Mustang. man, I have more respect for the Zone after that. I'm just glad it happened at the track rather than on the trip home. The negative lead was improperly attached to the pump motor - the wire fell off when we took the pump assy out.
