Quick question and maybe a dumb one because I'm confident that I know nothing about everything.

Why does the TVS kit come with 4 leaf spring pads?

I'm assuming that I only need one per side and the rest are extra incase an installer cuts one wrong.

I just started intalling the kit that I bought 2+ years ago. I just got the first leaf spring out and was getting ready to drill out the holes for the Ubolts when I realized that I don't have a 5/8 bit. So I began to re examine the supplied parts and instructions when I saw the 4 leaf spring pads

The spring is sandwiched by the pads. So, one on the top of the spring (between the spring and differential), and one on the bottom (between the spring and shock plate.)

Carl, thank you for the help. I'm not sure why that wasn't obvious to me:idea:

Sometimes we get so focused on making sure we don't foul something up that we can't see the obvious. Happens to me all the time. Sometimes I'll have someone over when I'm doing something. I know perfectly well what to do, but like having someone there to chime in when I'm about to do something silly.

I have another seemingly dumb question, becuase again I dont want to mess anything up.

I'm installing my new Bilstein shocks in the rear of my firebird. The top of the rod has a spot to put an Allen wrench. What is its purpose? To adjust the shock? Or to hold the rod still so that the bolt can be properly tightened and torqued?

I've tried searches on the forum and calling around with no luck. Any help would be great.

Thats exactly what its for. It keeps the shaft still while you tighten down the nut. It helps if you have a ratcheting type wrench to run the nut down while using the allen wrench to keep the threaded shaft still.
Good Luck! Post some pics when done!

Since North Carolina is covered in ice and snow, I have some time to post. So, here are a few pics. I hope that I post them correctly. These pics were taken a few weeks ago after completing the installation of the rear TVS kit components.

Currently I have the front springs removed, but have not started re-installation. I'm trying to save up some $$ to get UCA, LCA, the chassis max kit, disk brakes all around and maybe even some new wheels. I figure that it’s easier to do all of this at one time if I'm so fortunate. $1500 and counting.
