I'd bet there's a few other oddities out there...

I'd love to see a PT'd Vega, Pinto, and Checker cab (I'n crazy like that)

I have been saying for awhile now that a Gremlin would make a great PT car. They handle great. They won a couple chamionships in IMSA RS series.

I was doing an AMC Spirit about 5 years ago, right after Poison Dart. It had a 3 link, with C4 corvette front suspension and a 6 inch engine setback. A real AMC engine that made 635hp on the dyno. The plug got pulled, never got finished. A shame.

That rendering looks sweet but how would you get the roof/quarter window looking like that? Chop it some?????

Jeff, do you have any photos of this car?

Thanks,

I think it's more an optical illusion with the white stripe by the windows. The smoother curve of the rear side glass will be the tricky bit.

I've admired her car for years. I had a pacer in high school, and will build one again.
The 4.0 Jeep motor is definitely FTW!

She ain't bad herself.

Why, as a matter of fact, I am!!!!

I'm a new member, but I've visited this forum before for information. I found this thread in a google search :rotfl:

1975 AMC Gremlin X Levi Edition

Fairly clean body with a few dings and a small amount of rust; is now currently dismantled. The progress on my project is very slow because I'm in college right now. But Pro Touring is the goal....

LH Motor mount, RH mount to come in the future....

Other parts in the works: Ford 9" rear end, complete rewire, custom dashboard (the original one was cracked so badly, and any others from donor cars will most likely be the same way), Vintage Air.... you know, pro touring!

Saw a gremlin for sale along the highway up to my sister-in-law's yesterday. Just as you exit the west side of Laura on 571.

The engine in it now is a 2000 Camaro LS1 with 4L60E auto trans. It now has the Z06 camshaft and valve springs and has the pcm fuel, spark, and transmission tables tuned by me.
The front suspension has been completely modified. All the a-arms and lower control arms have been boxed; the strut rods are custom made solid rollers to improve handling by eliminating deflection. I made my own front cross member to fit the LS1 and I removed the stock coil springs and fabbed up brackets to install coil overs in their place. The sway bar end links are custom solid roller fulcrum I made as well. I also made a strut tower brace to keep the frame from flexing during cornering.
The rear axle/suspension is the factory AMC 20 rear end with a lock rite posi in it with 2.73:1 gears. It has leaf springs and caltrac bars I made my self.
For brakes, the front drum brakes were removed and custom brackets were fabed up to use huge 2003 jeep liberty rotors with GM S-10 brake calipers with stainless steel braided lines all around. It also has rear disc brakes using the Cadillac calipers with integral parking brake and speedway motors racing rotors. A corvette master cylinder applies the force for braking.
The interior is mostly stock. I had to form my own floor patch panels as they are not available from anyone in north America and it had small rust holes in all four corners of the floor.
The wheels are off an eagle talon that I painted black.
For body the front bumper has been removed and 2005 freightliner century class transport truck headlights are being grafted into the fiberglass front fender pockets. The wiring has been completely redone and updated with today’s wiring standards.
I am a licensed truck and coach technician and a lot of truck parts have made their way into this car as well.
It is not completely finished yet but it is close.
It kills me to keep this car automatic instead of standard shift transmission but it has to be driven by my wife incase of an emergency and it would of severely increased the cost of the build.

There may be another one getting ready to go together... We'll see if he trips over this thread and it sparks him to get the car delivered to the chassis shop.

I've wanted to see that come to life ever since I saw that picture.

I even looked for a Gremlin for a while, until I realized people wanted a lot more money for rotted out shells than I was willing to pay.

I've just started a 69 AMX project, full frame etc, etc. The Gremlin was built on the same platform as the AMX, great drag cars with the rear axle moved so far forward. Don't know if any of you guys remember the commercials for the gremlin with the cigar smoking gas station attendant asking"were's the rest of your car Tootes" Loved those old commercials.

Eagle actually buit a 4x4 version of the Gremlin, a buddy uses one for his daily driver, I crack up everytime I see him in it. Ron
