Was breezing thru DuPont Registry and came upon this Firebird. From a wheel company ad.

Hood scoop and rear wheels....fail.................. but I like the rest of it.

I agree completely with you. That can't be the correct rear wheel though.

Looks like something Bo Zolland did. He does amazing illustrations.

Yup it's called aerodynamics. Althought some are also used for brake cooling. I like it.

Nice! I really like the "polished stainless steel" look of the paint.

I'm with ZZ on this one. The hood scoop is cheesy. Too big and flimsy looking. They are running covered wheels on some of the Formula One cars but I don't like the way they look. Otherwise it's a sensational concept.

I like alot about it. The rear fender bulge looks nice and fits the body lines well. If the rear wheels aren't a goof up which you guys say it isn't it better be removable. I know we in pro-touring are more about performance than looks but there is a limit. The rear wheels look terrible unless again it is a removable option for racing. Agree on the hoodscoop also, it could be much better. Overall though gorgeous

The covered wheels are not new to Pontiac.

In the third generation TAs they attempted a "covered" style wheel design on the street cars because the engineers realized the aerodynamic advantage they provided. They didn't last long due to over heating brakes. Look at the early third gen cars and you'll see what I'm referring to.

Here's a link. Not a great pic but you get the idea:

They look like vented Moon Discs.
Nice looking car if they do something a little more creative with the hoodscoop.

I like it! (except the hoodscoop and wheels) Can someone please make my rear fenders like that?

nice concept but it doesn't really vary for the stock 70-73 birds sans some front spoiler redesign. nix the scoop and rear wheels and add a little more rubber the the tire and it'll be good to go. I have a 70 bird I looking to unload if someone wants to start on creating the concept.

Ok I just took a closer look at this pic and if you notice the rear wheels sero covers match up with the spokes of the front wheels. Both sets seem to have the exact same holes at the outer portion of the spoke. It also looks like there may be some kind of provision for attacting the aero cover to the wheels. So in a sense one could attach thenm when you wanted. My only gripe then would be that there is no cooling efect as with some other aero covers from the past. Might be great for speed runs but on a track day it might over heat the brakes.

I think the car looks rediculess,

Don't get me wrong here, but I don't think it looks that radical or extreme... It's lowered, different front and slightly modified around the rear fenders.

Looks good though, and I like the wheels eventhough the F-body probably never will compete in any touring car-series (Those type of wheels could often be seen at the 90s BTCC-cars).

I know it's a rendering, but those wheels must be ridiciosly large though - 21" or larger?
