Haha insert joke here right. It is a really nice cover. I have seen them in person and I am considering buying one. They have an O ring seal, dipstick and magnetic drain plug. Very trick if you ask me. I know I am going to be doing a Big brake upgrade so the rear axles will need to be pulled. So if I am doing this I might as well chaneg the rear gear and add a posi and if I do all that adding one of these would strengthen the case maybe help keep the rear cooler due to the finned cover and added fluid capacity. So good idea? And will it fit?

You didn't say what rear end you have, so I don't know if it will fit. $250 is a lot of money for a cover. If you have the money then go for it.

Sorry it is the 8.5 in my wagon. Just wasn't sure if there are any differences i might not know about.

I agree with BGH. For that kind of money the fluid can be changed 10 times, which would add significanly more life than the cover.

Is that a temp gage that is pictured on top of that cover?

The thing sticking in the top is actually a dipstick. But it does have a threaded hole for a temp sensor.

If I was going to change my rear cover, I'd do something like this

The screws going into the cover stabilize the carrier bearing caps

I am partial to the ones from TAPerformance, not just because they're here in town, but I believe Mike was the originator of the design and has the most experience with what actually works. I've installed a few of the Mag/hytec ones on some Dodge diesel trucks and in my opinion they're good for extra capacity and convenience, but I don't think they add that much strength. Another thing about the ones from TAP, they have different capacity girdles for some applications; we had to use a low profile cover to clear the Maximum Motorsports panhard bar for the SN95 Mustang GTwe're working on. Check them out!

TA Performance makes covers that are sold under different brand names. The Moser cover I used on a rear I built for my Firebird was made by TA. I thought a bit of creative painting would look cool even though you can't see it under the car. The TA covers also add capacity.
