I am running 7/16x20 standard wheel studs on my front rotors for my 68 GTO. I recently changed rims and the front studs only allow the nuts to go on 7 turns, and I want to go at least another 1/2" longer. I went to my local Pep Boys and they do not have them. Anyone know of a place I can get them? I can even mail an old stud into them so I can get the correct one. I know it is a small BS purchase for 10 studs, but anyhow I'd appreciate a place to get them from and thanks. Gary

Disc or drum...they used different front wheel studs IIRC. Disc uses a Dorman #610-025 and drum uses a #610-114. Different knurl diameters and lengths.

Another option would be to contact Jon at Driverz inc and get some extended shank lug nuts that increase the thread engagement inside the hole in the wheel. Most wheel holes are .6" diameter or larger, so there's some room there to play with.

Thread in from Moroso , check Jegs/Summit for 3 in wheel studs. 7/16 or 1/2 either one and several different knurls

This is for my front disks, just need longer studs.

The OE stud would be the #610-025 then which has a .564" knurl diameter, 1.31" under head length, and .38" shoulder length. You've got several longer aftermarket options as stated in the post above or you can look for an OE replacement.

Based on the info from Dorman's website (https://www.dormanproducts.com/cgi-bin/vm91corp30r/pagepro_disp.w?clt=hwrap1&pagepro=Dorman%20Products):
#610-024 7/16-20, RH, .570 knurl, 1.38 length, .44 shoulder length
#610-114 7/16-20, RH, .582 knurl, 1.66 length, .41 shoulder length
#610-179 7/16-20, RH, .570 knurl, 1.75 length, .88 shoulder length

I went and checked at least the one picture of the part number and that was not a match. The other two I cannot find pictures for, so I emailed Dorman with this:

"Hi there! I have a 1968 Pontiac GTO and I need to get 10 lug studs for my front rotors. My stock studs are 7/16"x20 RH thread and 1.5" long from the button part(not counting the button part). I want to go to a 2" lug stud (from the button) is all and having a hard time finding them and I did check the website, but only see stock options. I know this is a really small purchase, but I would greatly appreciate the help with this and even went to my local Pep Boys, but they were clueless to be frank. My lug stud goes like this button, then the knurl which is about 1/4", then a smooth section about 1/4", then the threaded portion which is 1" long. I can take a 1.25 to a 1.6" threaded portion and still be good, but anyhow thank you VERY MUCH in advance.

Gary"

I emailed on Thursday, but no response as yet.

Thanks very much for your offer-really that is generous. I know they will be a bit longer than what I need, but they look like they will press in nicely, and I can grind them down and then chase the threads if need be in case I mar it up grinding it down. I am thinking grind em and then press them in-sound reasonable? This way I could find exactly how far I need too so I can go into the acorn nut. Anyhow, thanks and will let you know as soon as I think this is the best course as the last thing I want to do is get something even for free and regret it later on or waste the product. Anyhow, will send a PM within 48 hours and TY! Gary
