I've noticed , while watching on television and attending the American LeMans Series , that the corvette C6R shifts very fast .
Almost like a sequential paddle shifted car.

Does anybody know if they are using a paddle shifted unit , or are the drivers just that fast.
Maybe they are using a clutchless trans ???
Like a Jerico or Rockland Standard-modified T56 transaxle with dogring synchros ????

Just curious ....

Sequential manual if I'm not mistaken.

Thanks for the response True.

I thought they had to base the race-car off-of a factory model. ( Like the ZR1 in this case )
( It's kinda' weird how they said the C6R "GT1" race-car was based off-of a Z06 , and the C6R "GT2" is based off-of a ZR1 )
Chevrolet offers a paddle shift on the automatic Vettes, but no sequential manual.
And particularly not on the ZR1 or Z06.
The new Grand Sport will offer a paddle shift.

jeff, its the body for the factory model, gt-2 has brought most of them to use factory frame and add stiffening by killer roll cages(where as gt-1 cars were tube chassis's). Fast alms cars have sequential trannys, and most have a shifter ball that senses the shift and retards timing to unload input shaft on tranny for super fast shifting, just like in the dyno video. killer stuff, reg duty oem stuff would not hold up

I have not clue if it is the same setup or not - probably not, but I thought this was pretty cool. I think Andrew Borodin posted it on one of the sites.

Okay, how does that work? In the vids they are pulling on the lever way before the shifts, almost like they are having to hold it back until it shifts. What am I missing? I understand the whole sequential trans thing.

A friend of mines off road car runs an Xtrac 383 6 speed seqential transaxel...there are sensors in the shifter that cut the ignition before the shift is completed... He was the first buggy in this video its funny to hear the people talk when they think somethings wrong with the car when infact its 100% normal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qpw_6ZjmpY0&feature=related
