Well I was bored today... so I took some cardboard and blue painters tape and mocked up a front air dam on the chevelle... I had already taken the front bumper off.... I plan to have it cut down to one thin piece... similar to a firt gen Camaro... The airdam will fill in there the lower half of the bumber used to be... you'll have to imagine the bumper....

Let me know what you think.... I was thinking of addin brake duscts in the front as well... maybe a splitter... this was just done quick with what I had lying around... the mesh is not the style I would use... but you get the idea....

Is the bumper going to fit on top of this? If so, I think it would look cool. I think if you took a Chevelle grille and cut it down to fit the opening, then it would be more subtle.

I like it! It doesnt need the bumper imo.

Dont know what speed that tape is rated for but I think blue duct tape would have been a better choice .

I would take off the sheetmtal under the grill, having it hang out there doesnt look right to me, Tuck it in at the same depth as the grill. Maybe Im not understanding what youre trying to do.

Keep in mind I only spent a little time and only had blue painters tape.... I want to keep the bumper, but just use the top part.... That top part almost completely covers that lip that comes out from the bottom of the grill... the apron ...

Looking at the pic above, imagine that everything below the opeining will be removed. ...

In actuality the sheetmetal part will need the be set in some to clear the bumper.... but for ease or mounting the carboard I just stuck it to the apron... I think I want the sheetmetal to slope inward first and then kick back out at the bottom...

This is olny the first try or what I am sure will be many....

I dig it.

I'd think about including a hole to allow pass through for a tow eye attached to your frame horn.

i like it too.

from an aerodynamic stand point, If the bumper/valance was further forward of the grill you will have less drag. The valance would break up the air and allow it to go over the grill/hood. Just a thought. I am mounting my valance about 8" in front of my grill.
