So I have been checking out the site for a short time now and thought it was time to join in the fun.

I grew up around hot rods with a father that was neck deep in some pretty cool cars. There was always something cool in the driveway. I spent my early years at Ct. Dragway while he raced a 66 Chevelle. That year and model car is my true first love. Some day I will build a tribute to that car.

For now I have a 47 Fard coupe. It is a typical street rod. I have been fortunate to win some nice awards with it as well as a Nov. 07 feature in Rodders Digest magazine. While I do enjoy that car, and have a strong bond with the street rod hobby, I have decided it was time for a new project.

Last year my father drove with me for 13 hours to attend the Goodguys Columbus event. We had a blast in my hot rod that weekend. What blew my mind the most was all the pro touring cars in the Pros Pick area. All those cars trying for the SMOTY award got me all charged up!

So now in my garage next to the 47 sits a 72 Maverick that is waiting for me to do something with it. The PT treatment is calling! I picked this car for it's uniqueness. There are few around and can be had cheap compared to alot of other cars. A friend has had this car in his garage since 1990 having parked it right after it made the trip up from Alabama. It is very solid.

The plans call for a 5.0 with an AOD, a Mustang II front end, 17's and 18's, lowered down with some really smooth high end paint. I am thinking for now about a mostly stock appearing interior. But a lot of those plans may change, doubtfull, but you never know.

I know this isn't anywhere near as radical as most of your cars, however I am trying to keep this on a bit of a budget. I am 40 with 2 young doughters and a wife that is a stay at home mom. I need to keep things in check!

I am in Suffield, right near the state line. If you have ever been to Mark's Cruise night, I am 6 miles north!
