last gen RX-7's are real cool, love the center mounted tach. the rotary is interesting, but EVERY SINGLE ONE of these is on its 2nd or 3rd engine. they ALL blow. word was Mazda USA took a BEATING on warranty issues w/ these things which contributed to them being pulled from the US market. didn't help that they used to cost more than a corvette.

I've been daydreaming about owning one of these with an Lsx 6-speed swap since I first drove a 1st gen i picked up for 200$ about 3 years ago.

Man lol. I feel like this is my territory. I got started on cars with imports and then branched out into domestics/muscle.

454bug, Veilside kits are pretty nuts...all their designs are wind tunnel tested too. The price would make your jaw drop though.

Flat black, dumped on bronze TE-37's. I like where your going..street fighter indeed. www.v8rx7forum.com

"RE-Amemiya" is a bitchin japanese tuner that specializes in rotaries, specifically the FD. That rear carbon diffuser on the flat black one you posted is theirs (or a knock off), and I'm pretty sure the sides and front diffuser is theirs as well . They also make over fenders/flares, and aero bits that compliment the original design nicely.

the rear over-fenders and sick front end conversion with carrera headlights

a long time. There was one I would pass everyday that needed attention. They guy wanted way too much money for it. Sounds lilke you got a killer deal. If I remember correctly they came from the factory weighing 2900 lbs with a 50/50 weight distribution. The LS motor and T56 weigh the same as the rotary motor.

I think the conversion stuff is $800.

From what I can tell they either hold their value or are generally overpriced from the ones I have looked at. After looking around a bit at these I would really enjoy having one as a project. Keep us updated on progress I am subscribing.

Yea man i was thinking bronze or black..

pretty much going with the streetfighter theme on this one because of all ive seen are just slickies and pretties.. I dont really care too tuff about this car so im going to rock it out hard.

and yea Payton that was the kit i was looking at.. but the whole kit is 3500.. which is pretty reasonable i think..

I don't want to say too much, but these guys are not the best. There are a couple of other vendors that make front cradles for LSx engines as well as mounting hardware to mount a Ford 8.8 IRS center section for a much more durable rear end. The Driveshaft Shop makes axles for the swap.

because I spent a couple of hours on the V8RX7 website. Cool stuff there.

Seems like a read somewhere the Shamberg, or something like that, was the best kit.

I would suggest taking a little time over there.

Congrats on the RX, looks great.
I've always been a fan of that model.
That with an LSX would be insane, even with a new rotary would still be a bad ass car.

This is who you want to buy your swap subframe and parts from:
http://www.v8rx7forum.com/samberg-rod-custom/

I've got a 93 with a 400hp. LS1 in it. Great car, 2,800lbs wet, almost 50/50 balance. P.S., A/C and I'll have the cruise control back in it next month. The LS1 looks like it was made to fit in this car.

Good luck!
