Has anyone here purchased any of the pocket dyno apps for the iPhone or iPod touch? I've played with a couple of free ones on my iPod Touch, but I want input from others before I spring for one of them...

Ive got Dynolicious , and its dead on with everything we've tried. Including a 08 Toyota Tundra, based on "internet specs".

Who knew it could do 0-60 in under 7 seconds @ 5600lbs.

Ive heard, and seen a lot of good things about Dynolicious, and everything Ive tried myself has been dead on.

The only things ive seen screw it up, are either driver error, not setting it down on a flat surface, or putting in the wrong weight or drivetrain loss.

But, to each their own, and the iPhone could be part of the issue of it not working properly as well.

I saw the dynolicious, but didn't want to pay for it with out hearing from others. I tried the free version of pocket dyno, but it had my Camaro going 13.03 @114.3 mph, 2.31 60'... I know it's a lot faster than that. I also didn't have the iphone secured level. It was on the pass seat with a seat belt on it... :P

I have dynolicious and found it to be accurate in comparison to the numbers I'm getting from a horsepower calculation in HPTuners.
Being accelerometer based, It's highly dependant on being set up properly. If you're having a problem with consistency it's varying traction conditions, drive train slippage, or the phone isn't secured properly.
It may not be as accurate as a chassis dyno, but if all you're wanting to do is compare before/after results, it's better than the "butt dyno" when it comes to percentages.

They're pretty good programs, but they're still only accelerometer based. The iphone cannot distinguish between your car's nose rising and acceleration.

for calibration of dynolicious did you guys just do the thing where it has you sit it on a flat service in a bunch of different directions? I'll have to try again later today.

I don't know if that matters... When I tilt my ipod it doesn't start the time trial, but the motion does...

I have used dynolicious on my dads srt/10 truck before and after the blower and it seems accurate. It picked up over a second and about 12 mph in the quarter. Which should be about 170 hp at the crank, which is what Paxton claims.

I have had it ready at the track in the camaro, but always forgot to hit go after I staged. I guess I get too worked up! Lol.

Definately worth the 12 bucks!
