This event is near and dear to my heart. It is where I got hooked on road course driving.

Midwest F Body Association is based in the Chicago area and is really a message board based club much like this one. They have been running this event for the past 7 or 8 years and are in danger of discontinuing it if they can not cover the track rental for April. I ran one day of their fall event two weeks ago and suffice to say the car count was down. http://roadamerica.fbody.us/ (http://roadamerica.fbody.us/) The event is open to any make or model and they have four different run groups based on driver experience. Passing is limited to straightaways, and safety is the #1 concern. Driver instruction is also available for those who want it.

Several members here have run this event in the past. Jeff Schwartz with the Cadillac, the Ultima, and most recently Temptress, Andrew B with his GTO, Cam Douglass with the green Camaro several years ago, and of course myself with my 67 Camaro and several other cars over the years.

If you are not familiar with Road America, it is one of the premier road courses in the US if not the world. Four miles winding through the hills and woods of eastern Wisconsin. It was the site of the 2009 SCCA Runoffs, and regularly hosts ALMS, World Challenge, and IndyCar (or IRL whatever it is called now). http://www.roadamerica.com

I tried this for the October date but I would like to try again to rally and get as many PT.com and Lateral G members to attend as possible. If we can get some solid interest I would be happy to organize a PT.com/Lateral-G event within the larger event. PHR covered the event in 2004. Maybe Camaro Performers would be a good fit.

I am thinking I will be there, can't think of a better warmup for the Cormaro to the Motorstate.

So count me in!

How many will only be able to make one day?

I am planning for sat. but not sure about sun.

Does this event run in the rain but not in the snow?lol. Who knows what the weather will be like that weekend !

Jeff Schwartz said they might be able to keep registration open until Feb.15

I've seen it snow the day before the event and be 50's and sunny the next. It does run rain or shine, but honestly it is not looking like they are going to get the number of registrations they need by the January deadline.

That is definitely the way the weather works in WI., hopefully there will be some more entries to keep the event going. I have talked with Tom at Heidts Hot Rod & Muscle Cars & we are doing some changes to the bolt in I.R.S. in project "Re-Peeled" & wanted to do some track testing there.

I hope a lot of us are just waiting for the new year to send it in.

I checked the other day and it was at a little over 40 for each day. They have 6 days to get almost 40 registrations for both days.

With the amount of snow and crappy days we are getting it is so hard to know if it will be sunny, ice storm or more snow? It's just crazy. If it is 75 degrees and sunny that weekend it will be a miracle and funny to see so many kick themselves !

Just looked and they say the event is going to happen. Will I be able to register the day of the event? I am planning for sure to go Sunday if it isn't snowing or raining

I didn't register to drive in the event yet but am planning to go up and watch and maybe help. I just don't trust the weather this year and will more than likely still be working out things with the car.

If anyone wants to ride together from the rockford area or on the way there let me know.

The other event happening the 1st weekend of May made me make the choice to drive then for sure rain or shine.

Decisions decisions

I got my e mail reply back from the event organizers and they say i can sign up the day of the event ,no problem. I can also be a volunteer to help, no problem.

To speed things up you just have to have your consent forms ready that you can print offline and be good to go.

So anyone who was on the fence about it can relax and wait to see how the weather is going to be the day before and go for it.

I am looking to see everyone that is going and will have the Cormaro there no matter if I put it on the track or not. I will be looking to ride with anyone who will have an empty seat so I can get familiar with the track . I am definately going to enter in the may 1st and 2nd event that is going to happen.

See ya all there unless it snows :enguard:

I am excited about tommorow and hope the car holds up to the task.
I have had a few issues with the cooling since I closed off the front, it worked great yesterday and the day before but today it was coller out and it was fluctuating. yesterday it was steady so we will see how it goes. I am also having fuel problems in hard right hand corners, which most of the track is hard right hand corners. I baffled the tank with some aluminum pieces and it worked better on the street so we will see?

The car is sitting at the track next to Jeff Schwartz's truck and trailer. The weather is going to be cool out so it may be a morning that is not so pleasant but it is spring.

I have the number 167 on the side and await the first lap. There were a bunch of guy's who ran over to look at the car in tech and loved it.

This is going to be a learning experience and I hope the car makes it thru the weekend.
