Hey first in line. How did you do?

Car ran great, very smooth. Made 8 passes. I could really use 3 or 400 more horsepower though LOL But I got to get some seat time and test the parts I've been installing for high speed stuff. Gotta say though a 2.41 rear doesn't make for exiting launches!

So if we guess what your top speed run was do we get a cookie or something??? Just gonna guess around 175???.

Your video kind of reminds me of a picture I took of my car not too long ago.

Brett They had no timing equipment there. There was an officer with a radar gun. They decided after people kept telling them that datalogging, GPS numbers were way different than the radar to try a different radar gun. More problems with that so they tried to calibrate the gun based on what racers thought they were going according to GPS etc. Then they tried running a police car through to calibrate.
Someone said the problem is that you can't use the gun at 90 degrees to the cars at the finish line. So they were having to point the gun at the cars way ahead of time or something like that.
They'd told me after my first run I did 157. I know the car can't go that fast. Just not possible with the drivetrain in the car. I've run at Maxton where they have real timing equipment with backup timing. When they asked me how fast I thought I went the first pass I said probably about 130.
Other racers were told they were going 30 MPH slower than the electronics in the car were saying. That indicates almost a 60 MPH spread. So after the race they made up the numbers on the spreadsheet by guessing based on what racers told them they were doing or just making something up.
I don't have any electronics and didn't really care how fast I was going anyway because I was just testing out new driveline equipment before making more modifications. Until I get a new engine and get close to 200 I could care less. But for a lot of the racers it was a one time thing for them for bragging rights so they they were making a really big deal about the speed numbers instead of just going out and having fun making passes.
A lot of racers got mad because their numbers were disappointing so they were complaining and insisting they were going faster. They either stopped running or badgered the people running the event to change the numbers. The organizers just buckled under pressure and tried to make everyone happy knowing it wasn't a sanctioned event so there were no records to be made or broken.
The reality is that the MPH numbers on the spreadsheet are all fabricated just so people would have something to see. If you insisted you ran 168 they'd probably put 168 on the sheets for you. They don't care, they're just trying to make money, so keep the customers happy right?
Next event in January they're supposed to have real timing equipment.

One of my guys took his mitsubishi evo mr this weekend...The GPS in his car showed 185 on the first pass and broke his rear spoiler in the middle and damaged the trunk. He then took the spoiler off completely taped the holes and on his second pass went 187 on his GPS..However he was complaining also about the radar gun showing way slower speeds than his GPS. Hey the GPS dont lie...I could not go as it was my wifes Bday but I will be there in January and hopefully they will have the right equipment like at maxton....
Here is a link to the posted results which we know are not accurate....

It is basic radar gun operation to know that the gun will not be accurate at any obtuse angle, especaially not 90*.

There's another group running a similar event Nov.7 at the same place and if they have real timing equipment I may sign up.

I really wanted to do this event with my XR, but I just don't have the car prepared well enough yet... maybe I'll try to do the one in January.
Lots of great cars showed up for the event, it sure sucks that they didnt' have the timing gear sorted out.

were there any mishaps other than the broken spoiler?

A Ford GT broke a splitter and spoiler at around 190-200 and a corvette lost a carbon fiber hood that wasn't properly installed.

And I'm sure all these folks had tires and equipment speed rated for those lofty MPHs? Safety equipment was on board as well? ;) ;) ;)
