View Full Version : Need Help finding a 65 malibu Steel 2" cal hood

My buddy is almost done with his pro touring 65 malibu and need to find a steel hood all he is finding is a 2" fiber, Any help with this?

Seems like a couple of seasons back, "Chop Cut Rebuild" made a cowl hood for a 65 by grafting the cowl off of a '70 hood to a standard 65 hood. That may be the only way he'll get one in steel; I doubt they'd have done it if they could have ordered one.

I dont believe anyone mass produces any of them for that car. as derekf said, you can make one, but it will be time consuming. If he decides to go that route, there are companies out there that sell just the cowl scoop in steel. such as this,

Also, most newer design fiberglass hoods will have a steel perimiter frame, that will help in keeping the hood flat and maintain its shape. Such as these. Ive never ran em, so I can't say for sure if they are better or not. I've always ran steel cowl hoods as your friend is wanting to do. But it makes sense that they are better fit quality.
