There's a lot of aftermarket handling bits and pieces available for the 4th gen F's and start there. The good thing is that you can stuff a 17x11" wheel with 315's inside the wells (may have to do a little modification to the fenderlips) so can get good rubber underneath the car.

Sounds like a cool project ...

Funny. I'm doing the same research as I just picked up a '00 Z28 myself. Check out LS1tech.com for some more ideas.

I have been wanting another one. There is a bolt in Watts link for them. My last one was a 2000 and it had pretty much stock suspension, I always wondered what the car was capable of with bolt ons.

I have done a few things to my 99 SS.

stranoparts dot com for suspension bits.

There are so many aftermarket parts for this, the sky is the limit. LS1tech is definitely the resource to use.

I absolutely loved my cousin's '02 SOM Z28. He sold it not too long ago. : (

Oh, on top of all of that it was a stripper coupe (1SC) and was professionally lightened. It only weighed 3200 pounds! (without driver)

What did they do to get to 3200? I ran my SS over the scales and it wasn't much over 3400, with a full tank. Surely the fiberglass hood isn't that much lighter than it's steel counterpart.

First off, it had no power options (windows, locks) although it did have AC. When I say professionally lightened, it turned out that the car had some of the front crash structure and "extra" door bracing removed. The hood was not fiberglass, just stock steel. Other minor weight reductions came from momo seats and the lack of a rear seat.

Having seen many 4th gens weigh in at 3800 lbm, I was pretty shocked.
