What color should I go with on my 68?

Sorry man, too many options that I couldn't even vote in the poll!!! I wouldn't be able to decide either. Try to narrow it down some more.

I would go with a dark silver or gun metal gray with light silver stripes.

I would go for a zenko stinger hood and the matching stripes for that.

I voted for black w/silver stipes, but consider gunmetal stripes, a bit more subdued, but the combination looks great.

I would go against the grain and paint it something besides what you have posted for your choices. Those are nice colors, but as everyone knows, there are already plenty of examples.

I vote for doing something different. Just my .02 and valued accordingly. It is your car however, so color it as you see fit. It'l look good in the end. :cheers:

Dark colors show dirt. Lighter colors don't. Except white obviously. How often do you plan on driving it compared to washing it? Had a black car once and the maintenance got old quick. Just 2 more cents.

Black is and always be the best looking color but is the most upkeep. Now your silver or gray colors are going to be the most expensive becauseit is the hardest color to paint. My buddy works a restoration shop his bos is an awsome painter and he still screwed up a 69 camaro last week 3 times it took him to get it right so take that into consideration. I like black on top and silver on the side. GL with your project I'm just about where u are at my 69 camaro stage

I think all black with some Matte black stripes or accents to break up the hood. I love black and cleaned my caddi 2-3 times a week and loved it.

I'm close to getting a paint shop squared away sopaint is right around the corner, 2 questions for you guys

1) wheres the cheapest place to get a cowl hood?
2) I'm sure most of you have seen the ride tech camaro, with the bushed metal stripes, how would that look on black? I think it would complement the wheels quite well since they have brushed lips...

I've been watching this poll for sometime since I own the all black car. It's not cheap or easy to make a black car look that good. I'm not trying to yank my own chain here, just thought it was an important aspect of the poll.

I love our car man, it looks awesome. I'm talking to the painters now and he feels confident about getting it right. I know what you mean though, I've seen some black cars where the black just highlights all the imperfections of the paint, I'm hoping I won't have that issue, but we'll see. How bad is the up-keep with black?

I've owned so many black cars and toys you just can't expect perfection ever. Well maybe the day you paint it or pick it up. After that it's all down hill. LOL You just need to realize that black shows everything. You can polish it up and drive it to the gas station and it's already got dust all over it. Nothing better to me, you just have to get over wanting it perfect and quick. I got my first chip with 250 miles so it was easy for me. :1st:

Black with Silver Rally Stripes, but give the stripes a brushed aluminum look using Scotch-Brite prior to clearcoat. Looks sharp, makes for a unique twist on a classic color combo.

Yes I have. Many black or metallic black cars! My current daily driver is black and my next car or truck will be black. And I am considering painting my 55' chevy black too. Yes its a PITA to keep clean, but so what?

I voted for black, but I am partial to black cars, especially black 68's...(see PT Garage)

I just prefer to spend more time driving my car than cleaning it.

I won't argue that black looks awesome though.

Just depends on how much of a work-to-play ratio you can handle.

Yup I have, still own my old Monte Carlo in Black with Orange Rally Stripes. It shows dirt quickly, and it shows swirl-marks like crazy, but when it's clean and swirl-free, it's all worth it....

Every color has its downsides, and to keep all of them properly clean takes the same amount of work, just as well go with what looks best :smoke: That being said, I do like a good two-tone, and with pewter/silver/tan/etc on the sides and black on top, it shows very little dirt and looks great.

I love black, have 2 black cars, but black Camaros seem to be overdone.

How about as dark as you can get metallic grey? Then flat black stripes. Still agressive, but different than everyone else.

My thoughts would be a medium silver with fade on lower side to darker gray then use a silver or white mica "pearl" coat over it all and maybe a carbon fiber look nose stripe like stock or even carbon fiber SS stripes.

:dunno:Allways a hard choice but love the blue one with those wheels black always looks awsome to me. Dont know what it is but it must just be me cause my wife dont like black rides weather it be my harleys or my cars.
