This is my 1970 Impala that I have had for around 15 Years. I am looking to update the car with some 18's all around or 18x8 Front and 20x10 Rear. But am open to options. I am planing on lowering the car 3 more inches in the rear and 2 more in the front. I am looking for pointers on how large a wheel and tire I can fit in the rear with out tubing. I am also looking for some good wheel options. The car is going to be repainted the same green or all Black.

Thanks for any help.

Love that car,it looks sick..! Is that Marina Blue?
I can see why you want to upgrade the look a bit though...what style and size of a wheel are you considering?Have you already seen something you like?

Personally,If it was my car,I'd slap some 5-spokes on there with flat gray centers,it would continue that competition look you have going on with the cowl hood.:yum:

A great source to start with would be Jon Henson @ www.driverzinc.com check out the site and see if anything strikes your fancy.

Thanks for your reply. After looking for most the day I think I would like to put 20x8 up front and 20x10 out back. I am looking at the gray center spokes. The Boss Style 338. I wondering about the 6.25 Backspace. Any similar cars out there with this size wheel and back space?? What BS are Chevelle's with out mini tubs running?? What about more popular years of Impala's?

And the Color is called Aqua Pearl.

I would go 18X9 in the front and 20X10 in the back. I know I have 18X9's all around on a big car and the wheel wells make them look like 15's. I wish I had done 20's in the rear.

I would do 20/20 or 19/20 if you want staggered. 18/20 looks odd IMO

Man, a new set of wheels will TRANSFORM your car. I love that body style, and the color of your car looks amazing in those photos.
I would also suggest 19/20 if you can swing it. The 18/20 is a possibility also, and will save you money if you are on a budget. Billet Speciatlies has some VERY nice cast wheels right now too, and as always, we always stock Foose Legends. We know the fitment.

DriverzInc,

Thanks for the reply. Could you please PM me a quote for a Tire and wheel package ready to go.

Both 19/20, 20/20 and 18/20 with your opinion of what would look right. Your Impala is perfect so i would value your opinion. And yes I am on a budget hence why I was looking at the Boss wheels. I am looking to fit the fatest tire I can in the rear. Again I plan on lowering the car 2-3 more inches in the rear and 1.5-2 in the front. I drive this car alot in the summer both on Mountain roads in CO and the Interstate and I do not want to loose drivability. I am ok with triming the rear lip but would like to stay away from tubing the car.

Thanks again for any help

19/20 combo!! I have the 18/20 set up on my 56' and wish I did a 19/20. I have a 19/20 combo for the 55' I am building and it looks MUCH better...

Agreed...I've run an 18/20 combo on my '70 SS454 and never was quite happy with the look...these cars have large wheelwells and the 20's made the 18's look too small for my tastes.

IMHO 20's in the front are too big...and you won't like the ride.
If you can swing the extra cost usually associated w/19" tires, you'll be much happier in the end.

Gotta have a rake...:yum:
