I went to my usual sat. morning car hangout (Burger King right down the street from my house) and soon after I got there a red white and blue AMX pulled in. I have seen this car a few time but never got to snap pics or talk to the guy (JIM). So anyway I got to talking to him and he has done quite a few open road and road course races with this car. I talked to him for a while and then he mentioned the forum and said his AMX was the first non chevy to be posted here. I am not doubting him but when I tried to do a search I got nothing. Does anyone know Jim or his car? Also I told him that I was building a pro touring 63 nova and he went on to tell me he was doing another 68/9 (can't remember which year) AMX but not as race ready as this one but for sure a protouring car. He lives right by my parents so maybe if I can figure out exactly where I will go snap some pics of his project. He then brought up that he would love to organize a pro touring Route 66 run in a year or 2. Thought I would put that out there and see if there is any interest. He also said he was invovled with a "Vanishing Point" run and is trying to get a few more Dodge Challengers to do the run. Thats all I know about it I guess if anyone wants more info on that I can track him down and get it to you. Anyway here are some pics of his AMX. Its by no means a show car but it has been driven hard and enjoyed and it still loooks mean (I think). Enjoy

Yeah,
That's Jim Weyand. He was the first AMX in the cars section here on P-T.com...but Larry lost the directory or isn't pointing to it anymore.
Here's a link to more info on Jim and his awesome AMX:

Yes , I'm Jim , my AMX is named "Thumper" people in the AMC Hobby know the car by name .
I don't get a chance to hear it from out side but my friends tell me nothing else sounds like it .
I'll be at High Plians July 10th & 11th ........ 24 Hours of LeMons , look for the #3 car , painted like a friggin Dairy Cow . " Mad Cow Racing" , I'm one of the drivers . This Nissan has 230K on it , we just want to finish . Should be fun ..........

Beautiful car. I've always loved AMCs performance cars. About 25 years ago I had a chance to buy a Rebel Machine for $1000. Good runnin/driving condition in primer. The guy even had a new set of decals for it. :hand:

Dash bar ............. ?? The windshield and everything else scares me ......... Thats why SEAT BELTS , the car has a 5 point harness , both seats . The dash bar is more than 12" from my knees and above , I'm 6'1" .
That roll cage (Dash bar included) is attached at 11 (eleven) points through the car .
