It is official. Like the title says, my '67 Camaro is sold and gone. It got loaded onto an enclosed trailer this morning and is on it's way to Nebraska. I don't think it has really hit me that the car is gone yet, but I know I will miss it. Despite that, I sold it for a very good reason; to take advantage of the current market and buy a home. I got a fair price for it, and am happy with the sale.
For now, I will not have a running P.T car. I still have my '68 Camaro, which was my first love and I have had it for over 10 years, and was first set up P.T style back in 2000. It was my daily driver at one time and I have many fond memories of it. I will never sell it for that reason. It is about half a car right now (no front sub, drivetrain or front sheetmetal), but it will be an active project again some day. I was in the middle of an LS1/T56 swap when I bought my '67 3 years ago and ended up selling off my parts and/or using them on the '67. The '68 went into storage and all my effort and time went into the '67. I don't plan to start on the '68 any time soon, but it will be back on the road and as nice as my '67 some day.
For now, I'm looking at picking up an LS3 C6 Vette to replace my '08 BMW M3 that is my daily car. While it won't technically be "pro-touring", it will be a fun performance car that I can play with and modify. MY goal is 600 rwhp, so it should take care of my need for speed while being a reasonably practical, reliable car with good mileage. It will be put on the dragstrip, and hopefully some track days and autocross. I actually will not be driving it every day like I do with my M; I have an inexpensive car lined up for the daily commute.
So, yeah.... It feels strange to go out to the garage and not see my car there. On the other hand, I feel a bit relieved and my bank account looks VERY nice. In the end, I think the car is going to a good home. Anyone in the Lincoln, Nebraska area better watch out. It's bite is much meaner than it's bark :)
Here are a few of the last pics I took of the car. Enjoy,

Congrats on the sale. After a build like that, it will be fun to see what you come back with on the 68 build.

A few more chassis pics and such. For those not familiar with the car, it had an AME C6 'vette front clip and a cup-car setup from Hotrods To Hell in the back with DSE deep tubs. I was not into car shows and putting mirrors under the car; these pics are what the car looked like right before I sold it. It's a bit dirty, there is surface rust on some un-coated fasteners and there are some scrapes on the exhaust and rear truckarms from a VERY STEEP driveway I used to have.
This car was all about driving, and I drove it a lot. While I took very good care of it, I was not underneath the car cleaning the chassis/suspension like a lot of guys. I was also amazed that after so many street miles, the car had no fluid leaks. This is reason enough to go LSx for anyone considering doing so.

It is good or bad depending on how I look at it at any particular moment. I think it was the best move for me right now, and it already has me thinking about the '68 :).

Congrats on the sale. After a build like that, it will be fun to see what you come back with on the 68 build.
I have some ideas going already for the '68. First, it is going to stay red, maybe with black stripes or nose stripe. I am going to keep it the way it came from the factory, with it's standard grill and exposed headlights. While I liked the RS look on my '67, it is a big, clumsy system and takes up space. I will need a front clip to make it a roller again, and AME will likely get my business, along with their 3 or 4 link for the rear. It will definitely have Recaro seats, an LSx motor and mini-tubs. Not sure about A/C in this car, I guess I'll see how it goes. The latest generation VA systems look real nice.
I am going to take everything I learned on the '67 and hopefully make the '68 a better car in the end. It is going to need some sheetmetal work, how much I don't really know yet. It doesn't have much rust since it has been a California car, but it has been hit in the rear. Nothing a tail panel and some quarters can't fix, right? I am planning to take my time and do everything right the first time.
Here are a few pics of the '68 prior to it's tear-down in 2005. The last one shows what started the rebuild. I got backed into by a truck on Christmas eve......

Andy I'm happy you sold it for a great reason. It wil probably be tuff for a while, but you have a nice project already with the 68.
I usually look at the pictures and go back and read the text. That last picture sort of startled me . Ididn't expect it. I hope your really happy in your new home. Good luck .

Man! I was digging the car, not sure what if anything was needed until that last one...ouch. :machine:
Hope you get some time to play on the 68 in between house hunting trips.
Congrats on the sale of the 67, it was nothing short of an amazing car, but you have another one... lucky guy.

Thanks, I was pretty bummed out when that happened. I used it as an excuse to start on a major rebuild, though. The '68 was always rough around the edges, more of a street fighter than anything. 475-500 hp small block, TKO 5-speed, 9" w/ 3.89s, Global West/Hotchkis suspension, Baer brakes, etc. I did a lot of stupid stuff in that car..... :6gears:

Congrats on the sale Andy. That was a great looking car and clean too.
Engine bay and interior looked really clean. Was that a meth/water conatiner in the trunk? Again congrats.

Thanks,
Yep, it was a meth kit from Alcohol Injection Systems. Really helped out IAT temps under boost and just made for a very safe tune. It was never used to make additional power, although it did add around 20 rwhp @ 10.65 AFR. It would have made a bunch more power if we had leaned it out, but that is a no-no in my book. Relying on meth is something I didn't want to worry about.

Recaro Style "topline" (http://www.recaro.com/index.php?id=3739®ion=3&L=2), some of the best seats I have ever felt. They rival the seats in my M3, and that's tough to do. Got 'em from a Recaro dealer who was going out of business. Not cheap by any means but well worth it. I tried a cheaper set of seats first, and was not satisfied.

Andy, beautiful car. Hate to see it go, but then now we can watch you build up the '68 here soon. Afterall, building these things is half the fun (or so I'm old) although mine stopped being fun about 4 years ago.
