What do you think of neon lighting, and under car lighting LED's etc.?

I'm unaware of any functional use of such lighting. As such, it's a waste of time and money.

I agree with John. If anything its great at attracting the police's attention to you and other things he can ticket you on.

I first saw it on Close Encounters of the Third Kind. Good use :)
Right up there with spinners, donks and lambo doors for dumbest way to attract unwanted attention to yourself and your car you just spent good money to ruin.

Welcome to 1994!
LEDs under the hood, around the interior, trunk can be nice. But the halo under the car came and went in a hurry.
Little known fact, in 1994 we were ahead of the curve and made those kits. It only lasted a couple years.

Save the lighting effects for the show cars sitting on mirrors and such. As JP stated, if they serve no real function to help the performance in any way, then I don't need them.

Well, on a motorcycle I can see how they may make the bike more visible for safety at night.

I cant stand that look! It gives it a "cheap" look to me. Like something you get in the car aisle at walmart or something.

That's a nice thought but they turn them on after they hop off and walk into the bar. LOL

I've seen it look good once. And only in pictures. And that was when I was 17 and stupid. And yet, even then, 99.99999 percent of the time I knew it was stupid.
If you must have lights, spend that money on some trick WHITE interior/trunk lighting--one of the nicest things on new cars is that there's a lot more than just a dome light and your cell phone. A strip or three of LEDs inside the trunk when you open it would be pretty subtle and neat, and a lot cheaper than driving around with huge tubes under your car.

I figured they would need the funky lights to help them find their bike when they come out of the bar....LOL

I like the idea of LED's for the int, trunk and under hood area for use at night.

Maybe you could use them in Dubi when they have a bad sand storm so you don't get hit?

Ewwwwwww, Just Ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
Not a big fan of colored NEON... but I do dig the white LED puddle lights, mostly a VIP thing. Either under the car, or in the bottom of the door so they show when it's opened.

Someone on my street has it on a TRD Tacoma (the lowred street style, not the off road style). I never saw it until a couple weeks ago when we were driving home at night and he was pulling out of his driveway. I couldn't help but laugh as I stated to my wife "People still use neon undercar lighting??" It was stupid then, it is stupid now. Kinda like lighted windshield washer squirters.

given how often I've managed to step into something.. I'd rather not have stepped on getting out of the car, some kind of running light that turns on when you pop the door locks or open the door would be nice. The colored neons though, takes a certain kind of car to make them look even remotely cool, even then only when parked at a show, not driving around.

I think that they are really cool, along with the chasing LED license plate frames from the 80's....
J/K they are useless and out dated....not that they were cool then either!

Neon is for lighted signs, so unless your car is a moving billboard, leave the neon off of it.

Cops will nail you with the 'only emergency vehicles can have spcial lighting or lights any color other that DOT approved'.
Cops love to nail the guys with those around here, you can see them blocks away, and usually a cruiser right on them.
You can display them all you want parked though.

Even those vip puddle lights are cooler than neon.

The puddle lights only come on with the door open. That is where they get their name, they illuminate the ground so you don't step out into a puddle.

I find it odd to read 3 pages of guys dissing on undercar neon lights when half the folks here have superfluous 2 tone paint schemes or racing stripes. Neither of which have any functional value. And how many "which wheels look good on my car" threads do we see here? just sayin. :)

Neon and Pro-Touring is bad. Very bad!
It's like Turkey and Egg sandwiches. Eggs are supposed to be combined with Cow or Pig products--not another form of fowl. So you have your ham, your bacon, your sausage, and even steak. Those are okay. It's gotta be chicken/pig or chicken/cow. There's also bologna, pastrami and various cheeses and vegetables. All good. :spam:
But not turkey and eggs. That's cross poultry-ization. Which is against nature. That's bad. Very bad. Same with neon and pro-touring. If you add neon to a pro-touring car, the entire universe might implode.
