Carbon Widebody C5 and it's at my shop now. Gonna drop out the 427 C5R engine tomorrow.
Ever seen 15" 8 piston Brembos? Ti caliper pistons drilled radially where they meet the pad for lighter weight and less heat transfer. 315's in the front! 345's out back, transaxle cooler with pump
Yea, It's the 2003 Car and Driver One Lap of America Winning Car.

Yep, it was his. Ron sure is a great guy. His shop is a few miles from mine.
He sold it last summer.

Hey Jeff,
Beautiful Vette!
If that guy pushes his LS as hard in the corners as the C5R "racing" Corvettes, I hope that he's running a dry sump system. Here's some help with that:

Oh, and if you ever have a problem with an LS throwing belts, it's usually the belt tensioner. Here's what's fixed a few LS's at Speed Merchant:

Tony it's already got an accusump on it has racked up loads of trouble free miles on all the race tracks that One Lap includes. Wish it was my car, but it's not.
I've got the Katech belt tensioner on my Ultima, the mounting bolts broke on it and had to make roadside repairs on 2004 Hot Rod Power Tour.

WOW! That is one hell of a 'vette!!
yeah MTI houston built the engine. that car finished i think third or fourth in the super car challenge, but what i liked more than anything else was the fact that it was the only supercar in the top four or five that was NOT trailered.
supposedly the body kit doesnt look good upclose, bad build quality. what do you think since its in front of you Jeff? personally i like the wide body look.

I like the widebody look, but make mine a regular Coupe. The quality of the paint/body is ok. But, you can see some shrinkage and carbon weave if you look hard.
I agree with driving em as my Ultima GTR has 18,000 miles now.
The vette's 427 broke the double roller timing chain in half, bending valves in the process. Going back to MTI to have a look.
man that sucks about the engine. how many miles did it have on it before the brakage?

I think 18,000, the car's got 20 something on it.

Yeah, that car looks better in photos. The widebody kit wasn't too impressive quality/fit-wise. The car looks damn good from 10 feet away though!
On that supercar challenge, it was also the top finisher that ran all-motor. The others were boosted that beat it.

Yep, and it won the braking test outright. I think it was about 80 ft shorter than the LPE car.

Interesting story on that supercar challenge.
MTI was building a red Z06 with a ProCharged 427ci engine. It pulled something in the 800 rwhp range on the Dynojet, but popped a head gasket a day before it was supposed to leave for that event. So, Jayson gave Ron a call and asked if he wanted to participate instead. Ron's car had NO prep for this event, he just showed up and let the car do its thing. Pretty cool story.
That red Z06 they were going to bring was even more wicked than Ron's, it probably would have cleaned house. Ron was going to drive it also. Attached some photos of it.
i love the body kit on that Z06. theres a couple around here that have that. very smooth and clean.
i had forgotten it was an NA motor. makes it even more impressive and there was no prep either. thats badass. i did hate the hennessy won though. oh well theres always this year
speaking of braking remember how horrible that CTSv did with those Ti brakes? supposedly great brakes. if im not mistaken that company that made those brakes isnt around anymore either.

We tried Ti brakes on Superbikes years ago, didn't work.
