That's really sad to see a car like the Bel-air being totally destroyed like that. Couldn't they have picked a car that was less desirable?

But yes it was a good demo of today's safety standards that help all of us and our familys to stay safe from people like drunk drivers and such.

I'd be curious how a ladder type frame would do compared to a lousy X-frame.

All in all, old crash technology sucks. Even the past 15 years has shown a dramatic difference.

After seeing this I'd trust a new Malibu. To bad for the '59 though. No dingle balls for that one.

man.ive been in a couple of accidents at 75mph just like that(ie head on collision)in a couple of old cars(71 monte carlo,57 chevy bel air,and a 1970 cuda)and being the driver in each.nothing ever happened like that, and these were perfectly stock cars except the 57 had seatbelts.wow

I thought the same thing when I saw this video a few days ago. Actually before I watched it when I saw the title I was wondering if it was going to show the old car with less damage or something, but that 59 got tore up.

What a waste of a classic!! Like they didn't already know the new cars are safer. I could have predicted the outcome of that test 15 years ago...
