So I picked up a big chunk of steel in one of my rear tires after being forced (by traffic barriers) to drive thru a street construction zone. The hole in my tire cannot be reliably patched. I go to buy a new one, and Michelin lists this tire as out of production!!!??? What are the guys with the older Vipers (which is where this size comes from) doing for tires?

They will be SOL when supply runs out. If you need a 345 tire, check out the Viper forum's want-ads. Some good deals can be found there.
I plan on switching to 275 & 335 Pilot Sports on my car soon and that site will be the first place I look.

I got lucky on the 345/35X18 size. Spoke with Michelin and they dont even have the molds anymore. But we found one in the Northwest and a pair (which I will get and store as spares) in the midwest. The 335/30X18's are to short for my car. The only other alternative was to step up to 19" rims in the back. Way more $$$$$ than I wanted to spend.

Found that out when I went to purchase some late last year. So I will be stepping up to 19"'s on the rear at least. I did not want to step down to 335's, I wanted a larger diameter tire so if I ever mount 28" slicks I don't have to worry about changing rear gears or driving styles.

68protouring454.....Car looks pretty much the same. Right now Im just putting some miles on it to see what breaks or falls off. Ive had a couple of minor tweaks and problems, but all in all its spot on. Both the front and rear suspension were essentially cut off and welded back on after extensive mods. Car tracks straight, no shimmy's or wobbles. At triple digit speeds I can take my hands off the wheel and it just keeps going straight. Ride is more than acceptable.
Im concentrating my current efforts on completing the new engine. Its a boosted (Vortech YSi) 490 inch Pontiac with EFI. Only hold up is drivers side blower brackets, and I should have them very soon. The radiator will have to move forward to make room for the drive setup. Also have a Glasstek fiberglass hood we are fabricating a cold air setup on. I supplied a March serpentine set (loaned it) to Vortech so they could design brackets that would work with both V-belt setups and serpentines.
