First, welcome.
Second, what do you actually need to know?

Welcome! This is a great place to ask questions. Tell us a little bit about what needs to be done. Use the forum to search and ask questions.
First thing I would do is tell her you will finish it when you darn well please. :)

Welcome to the site. We have a wealth of information on this site and the members are very diverse. If we don't know we will find out. On a side note if you need fluids for that car follow the links in my signature.

Well, one thing that can really speed up a project is buying an already completed motor. I'm sure you can find a nice 5.0 to drop in to get the project moving. If your wife takes that as a sign of good faith, then maybe you can keep the other engine to rebuild for the long-term. But yea, my suggestion is engine swap, then engine accessories (replacing the alternator, water pump, etc), and then whatever else you need to get it moving reliably.
