So to start I have a all drum car. I was going to do the ls1 swap but had a good deal come my way. So I will now be doing a 4 wheel c5 zo6 set up.
Parts I currently have:
Front calipers, rear calpiers, a-brackets,goodridge steal breaded lines, steal pistons for front calipers.

Parts needed:
Kore 3 mounting brackets, baer MC, pads and rotors, and line adapters.
So far I'm into this kit 150.00!! Not too bad
Ill be repainting the caliper because they have some wear do to heat. Will post pics soon

when i say easy i mean for me, no disrespect to the ones that did it their way b4 me. because it helped me do it my way:)

C5's are great kits, that is what I am running on my 68. are you running manual or power brakes? I pieced together my kit like you are doing but didn't do as well as you did on your parts.

Tobin at Kore 3 knows his stuff and is great help for parts and questions regarding the swap.

ok i started the tare down today and i must say that it came along very fast and without any problems. I know there is some write ups on this already but i wanted to do it my way. also this is what works for me and you should do only what you feel is SAFE! this is my liability waiver.

step 1: place wheel blocks in front of rear tires and and loosen lug nuts.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/09/IMG00056200909251832-1.jpg
step2: jack up vehicle, place jack stands in SAFE place and remove rims.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/09/IMG00057200909251847-1.jpg
step 3: remove drum. i used a large Flathead and it came wright off.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/09/IMG00058200909251849-1.jpg
step 4: remove carter pin from spindle, then remove the bolt that holds hub and bearings
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/09/IMG00059200909251902-1.jpg
step 5: remove hub by pulling it straight off
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/09/IMG00060200909251904-1.jpg
step 6: remove brake shoes, springs and all hardware. i used pliers and safety glasses
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/09/IMG00061200909251910-1.jpg
step7: remove backing plate and brake line. note that on the top bolt that does not attach to the stirring arms there is a piece of metal that needs to be pried up with a Flathead in order to loosen the bolt
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/09/IMG00062200909251935-1.jpg

this took me about 1 1/2 hours to do. now I have to do the hub turning which should only take a few mins, im going to see if i can do it at my buddy's house this weekend. and after that all that is left is the kore3 bracket, line adapters and a few bolts. i will update asap!!

You better double check that. I don't think 17" TTII's will fit this setup with c5 rotors......

Ya I believe a small slip on spacer was used to clear the fins on the calipers

ok so i checked and if you wish to run the 17' tt2's u have to use the c5 caliper and abutment bracket and the c4 13" rotor and the speedtech bracket. thats all

Eli any updates..?? I just started looking for parts for this set up myself,(winter project) I will be following this thread close. Thanks for doing the write up.

Can you keep a tally on the total cost of your set up? Just to have a ball park price, thanks Jeoff j.....Good luck.

ROEINONDUBS
10-04-2009, 08:47 PM
ya no problem jeoff.
so here is the price so far
c5 calipers all four corner - 150
hubs turned down- free! :)
rotors that need to be turned but still good-free
kore3 brackets front and rear- 190 but i might get the hybrids so it will be 15 more
line adapters 12
so that makes it 352.00 not bad

ROEINONDUBS

step 8: turn down the outside diameter of the hub so that the new rotor will slide all the way on
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/10/IMG00071200910041919-1.jpg
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/10/IMG00073200910041920-1.jpg
step 9: replace hub onto the spindle and bolt up
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/10/IMG00074200910041921-1.jpg
step 10: slide the rotor on
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/10/IMG00072200910041919-1.jpg

so this is as far as i can get for now due to lack of fund lol, this economy sucks i need a job!!! also here is some pics i took so i could see what it will look like all done.

The 17" tt2's will not clear the caliper. In fact many 17" wheels will not. I have to run a 3/4" adapter for my 17" Smoothies to fit.

here is the speed tech link that says it will. please note that it will not fit if you use all c5 parts.

I see they are using C4 rotors - The deeper hat offset is what allows the caliper to sneak in there.

now for the install
step 1: jack up ans secure car.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/03/IMG00160201002271121-1.jpg
step 2: remove wheels.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/03/IMG00161201002271128-1.jpg
step 3: remove drum, i had to beat mine off a little with a hammer.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/03/IMG00162201002271151-1.jpg
step 4: remove axle and drum backing plate and lines, to get the axles out you must remove the rear end cover and c-clips.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/03/IMG00163201002271229-1.jpg
step 5: install the ls1 backing plates i put the left on the right and the right on the left for a few reasons, 1 the e brake will work with no other mods needed, 2 clearance issues. i put lock tight on all of the bolts!! :)
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/03/IMG00164201002271234-1.jpg
step 6: install the axle and rotor, i had to grind the opening in the center of the rotor so it would fit over the axle it was only a very small amount.
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/03/IMG00165201002271248-1.jpg
step 7: install caliper and new brake lines and your DONE!!!!:smoke:
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2010/03/IMG00166201002271257-1.jpg
I mocked up my y2ks to see how it will look and to measure for my wheel adapters, if any one as a 67-68 with ls1 brakes and non z06 c5 rims i would like to know what size adapter you are using thanks.

I recently bought a 7/8 master cylinders for a 78 Monza (Bendix part #R11737). It was listed on Rockauto's website as a manual master cylinder, but it only has the dimple for the pushrod. I've done quite a bit of research and it seems like they are all just the dimple. I was pretty bummed because I thought I'd found a cheap alternative to the Wilwood mc. Are there any tricks to keeping the pushrod in place on one of the dimple masters?

At the bottom of the page at this link it shows the original cup and rod for the manual master cylinder.http://forums.h-body.org/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=27594
Halfway down on page 3 of this link shows a homade cup. Good luck finding a rod for it though, prob have to make one. http://www.forums.h-body.org/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=25034&start=30

How much clearance do you have between the caliper and the shock on the drivers side? Also, did you use a spacer between the axle flange and the backing plate?

Here are a couple of M/C's to check into:

1983-1987 Chrysler New Yorker: 21 mm (13/16) in. bore diameter, LH, 3/8"-24 ports, dimple: .725"
A/C DELCO #: 18M1833 {replaces 18M242 #18030484, 18M242, 19176443}
Raybestos #: MC39451
WAGNER #: MC108134
Dorman #: M39451 Aluminum!?

1988-1989 Chrysler New Yorker: 24 mm (15/16) in. bore diameter, LH, 3/8"-24 ports, dimple: .721"

A/C Delco # 18M260:
Replaces 18030502
Alternate/OEM Part Number(s): 19176432
Raybestos # MC39476:

Note that these M/C fit many various Chrysler vehicles and are rather inexpensive.

The one with the 21mm bore makes a great M/C for a manual brake system using the LS1 calipers.
