Just joining Pro-touring.com. I like this forum so far because it seems to deal with so many varied interests and cars. I have a real mix of cars in various states of completeness (who doesn't).

I have an original 89 Saleen w/48k miles, 10 psi vortech and bolt ons and it makes 352 rwhp.

93 LX mustang with 420 rwhp from a pro-built 347 originally intended for ~750 hp with forced induction just lost interest and it's still NA and just a daily driver car from time to time. would like to sell I guess. just don't have space for it.

'78 Pontiac Firebird with 325 hp SBC 355, vette products suspension and lowering springs, lee power steering, 3.08 gears, etc. fun cruiser car and I've owned it forever. haven't driven this car since the day before the terrorist attacks on 9/11.

1969 Opel Kadett Rallye ex SCCA track car and original California black plate car, lowered 3 inches, widened wheels, monster springs/sway bars, built 4 cylinder with huge cam, heavily ported head, 11:1 pistons, and two significant Weber 40DCOE carbs. this car needs full resto. it sat outside in CA for 5 years. solid body just everything plastic is fried.

anyways, glad to be part of the forum. here are pics:

Wes, I love the stance on your formula. it's below the weeds. I love the wheels. are they hard to keep clean. If I keep my firebird I'd like to do 17x8 front and 18x9 rear Rocket Fuel wheels with grey centers.

Thanks dude! Well, long story short, those wheels weren't on the car long enough for me to ever even get to clean them--Without getting back into it, year one and I had a, ahem, "disagreement" over them and I'm now moving to forgeline TA3s. Had to do it anyway, as the 17s weren't gonna clear my new brakes, so I guess it worked out ok in the long run. here's the best shot I have of the new wheels right now--rear's out getting narrowed for the new backs, so there's a loaner stuck under there now. She should be all together and back in the weeds in a little over a week, though! I'm a neat freak with my cars, so cleaning them is probably going to be miserable, but it'll be worth it in the end.

The rocket fuels are GREAT lookin' wheels--definitely go for the dark centers. Good choice.

Wes
sorry to hear you had troubles with your wheels from Year One. I like these new snowflake wheels but I think they'd kill me keeping them pretty. Here's a rough mockup I did of the Rocket wheel on my car.

JoeMac...yes this will be a fun project and a blast to drive. It sat for a long time in a driveway but after replacing a few little things and doing a quick carb jet clean I drove it around the block and not even pushing it ...this thing was a little rocket and it's very rpm hungry. previous owner had the shift point needle in the VDO tach set at 7700 rpm and I believe it.

I just love popping the hood and seeing these two huge side draft 2 bbl carbs beside this 2.0L 4-cylinder. The interior is decked out in all kinds of gauges and cool steering wheel + 1970s throwback pioneer stereo. I love it.

I'm partial to the Opel Manta A (they look great with the wide body kits), but I'd love to check your your Kadett and Firebird sometime (in the Chucktown area as well).

68 Formula...I like the Manta A as well a lot. I was basically raised in one. My folks bought it new in the summer of '73 and my dad drove it until 2005 when some one rear ended him. car had 260k miles!

Darrin, thxs on the Saleen. It's pretty clean and super straight. Hard to believe it's 20 years old! I looked a long time for the right car. wanted a black non-airbag supercharged black car. previous owner did some goofy stuff but I've got it all worked out over time.
