Hey,
I'm new here to post but was following the forum for long time.
I have a 69 Camaro RS and after 8 years of good fun it is time to make it even better.
for the moment it is lowered on the front,383 engine.
I'm thinking to go for the full job, not all in one go but bits by bits.
New paint, upgraded front and rear suspension (maybe mini tube), new rear axle, new +-600hp engine, new 5 gear gearbox, 4 good disk brake all around.
In which order you would start this job, I'm planing to start atthe beging of the winter but don't wantto have thecar off the road for too long, that is why I want to do one thing at the time.
Also what kind of brand/product would you recommend.
my budget to start with would be around 15K$US, I have allready a deal for the paint so this will not be include in the 15K.
Thanx in advance

I agree start with the suspension and brakes...do the paint last.

I also agree Suspension and brakes first. And if you don;t want the car off the road you will most likely need wheels and tires to clear the brakes.
So am I correct? does the $15K include:
Suspension?
Brakes?
Engine?
Trans?
Rear?

the 15K is what I have already to start the project.
I don't want to spend big dollars just for the fact to have spent money and say my car cost me that much.....
I want to spend the money that need to be spent to get good parts, don't wana go on the cheap side.
But should I go for a total front end with frame or just suspension arms, coil, rack&pinion and brake???
What rear axle would work for 600bhp, but keeping in mind that my plan would be to procharge the motor next year.
what rear set up would I need....??? mini tube or not???
at the moment I have a nice set of 15" wheels that I really like, and I'm tempted to keep them as I like the way the car seat, don't like modern wheels, but what gook brake would fit with those wheels?? or would I have to change the wheels to be able to get good brake??
where to get a good +-600bhp small block for not stupid money?? or would it be better to go big block??
So many question that I hope will find answer here.
prefer ding research before spending money the wrong way.
regarding the paint, I was suppose to wait until everything done, but have a good fdeal with a good painter, and my car start to have few point of rust and don't want this to get worst... Am I wrong??

If the $15K includes engine and transmission, your going to have to give up some things. Just in realy round numbers. just fast ideas of cost
Suspension? Mod your front subframe complete, $2600. Rear suspension for Mini tub (leafs) $1300 including tubs
Brakes? Brakes, $1000 to $1800 for complete brake kit to fit under your 15" wheels
Engine? $10K to $12K for 600HP in the car and running including cooling, headers, accesories, etc.
Trans? $4K + for a 600HP capable 5 speed
Rear? $2400 for a 12 bolr or 9" for 600HP
So you are going to be much closer to $25K to get everything you want to get good stuff on a budget

Well, if you wanted to go for cheap power on the motor, get an LQ9 pullout (with trans) off ebay for $2000, give or take. Build that up to a 408. It might get you close to your 600 HP mark, but probably bring you in below (500-550) and it'll be iron. This is my budget solution for an engine.
If you don't want rust to get worse, hit it with some POR-15.
No performance brakes will fit in a 15" wheel, as far as I know.

I'd agree with the above posters, brakes and suspension work first, including any subframe/chassis stiffening mods. Then a rear end that can handle your desired engine/trans combo. Then once you have some more money in the pocket, do the engine and transmission upgrade at the same time. Paint can always come later, unless there's some important bodywork that needs to be done.

so, my 15K would cover suspension and brake....
Would save more for engine and trans then...
What woudl be include in the front end for 2.6K??
I don't want leaf at the back, and would not need mini tube if I keep my wheels, what would be the price for a four bar link with coil??
What brake set up would I get for 1.8K??? would they be enought for the finale engine set up with procharger???
Whereis the best place to get a turnkey engine....??
Thanx for your help
