Ok i have a malibu 78' and im running the ls1 12" brake up front, and im debating on what too do for the rear, i was thinking explorer setup but its only 11" setup. I was going to run a 9 inch and get GM ends thrown on and run the rear ls1 setup too match, but im now confused on wether too run an 8.8 or the 9 inch which is the same end as for explorer brakes and what not, are the ls1 rears 12"? havent done too much research.. How wide are the ls1 brakes from the housing ends too wheel mounting so i can get my rear too fit etc, any infro on what too do would be great

I'd get whatever rear you choose set up to run the LS1 rear brakes. It's a great park brake, plus it's a match to the front brakes. I have no idea what the piston size is on Exploder rears. The LS1 rears have single 45mm pistons and 12" x 1" rotors.

I run the stock Explorer disc brake set up on my 9". The set up is cheap and works great for me in stock form on the street and the track. If you want to upgrade Baer makes some nice vented rotors, and Hawk has a nice street/ track compound to enhance the braking performance. The drum in hat parking brake works great too and is easy to set up.

You can buy the Explorer setup for $500 or so ready to bolt in, but if you do some junk yard hunting and buy new or rebuilt "working" parts you can cut the price in half.

It sounds like you are looking for something that is aesthetically pleasing as well. I cant help you there- I have bad taste!

if i could find slotted and dimpled rotors, it wont match, and ull be able too see brakes with the wheels im running, but seemsl ike ill have that problem with both ls1 and explorer setups. Question, its a full street car is it worth it for slooted rotorsor will the solid ones be fine?
