I just bought and installed a 140 amp alternator and it whines as the rpm's increase. Now it does have a very sturdy metal impeller blade so I am not sure if the alternator or it's fan are doing it but it does kinda whine. Is this normal?

Can you disconect the power easily and does it go away or is it mechanical?
If you are getting electrical whine through electrical system get a large ignition capacitor and bolt on at or near alternator and hook to battery post.
Also try grounding things like hood block, body to each other. Simply make small grounds with braided ground strap and soldered and crimped terminals and self tap screws.
