I might be a little late on this one, but in the most recent issue of HR mag., they have a tech. article on the new roots blown 440HP Northstar V8. What I though twas interesting about it was the diesel mods done to this all new motor-particularly the oiling system used to spray oil underneath the pistons to keep them cooler. GM techs report being able to run 3 more degrees advanced and add about 14ft. lbs. of torque up top. I wonder if a traditional SB can be machined for this? If so, I wonder what kind of oiling system would be needed to support it? 70psi @ 3 gpm I think it said (just for oiling the pistons). I'm looking at unique cooling/lubrication solutions on my +.040 400SB. Any ideas? -Jabin

Jabin, I know BMW used squirters on and least 1 of their performance 4cyclinder motors in the early 90s. The S14 EVO 3 motor in particular. I am not sure if the standard SBC has a pressurized oil galley that you could tap for squirters. Personally I do not see a need for them. If you are looking for unique this would fit the bill, but who would know sicne they are not visible?

I am pretty sure current trans am motors use this also. You can see in this picture that there is some cooling line that go into the motor, I cant remember how exactly it works.
