I've got a 69 Firebird that has a quick ratio steering box(2 1/2 L/L) but has absolutely no road feel at all. It's that one finger power steering that you'd want in a big cruiser. It just doesn't work for me. I've heard the good swap is to a late 70"s TA box but I'd like to know exactly which one and what all the ins and out are about it before I tackle this job. Some have said it requires getting new hoses made with metric ends and such but I would think they didn't start that until they went all corporate.
If anybody knows what it's all about and could enlighten me I'd appreciate it? Thanks

Robert

You could also send your box out to be rebuilt by the experts at Lee. They can change the torsion spring in the box to increase the effort, so you'll have the feel you want.

You can buy a kit for $15 that lowers your ps pump pressure output. This will increase your steering effort a bit and may give you the feel you are looking for.

Nogo, where would one find a kit like that?
I was thinking about one of those steering stabilizer hyd bolt ons. thought maybe that would make it a little more effort. Easy enough to try that.

Here is a link to the kit I have. If you call CPP they are a bit cheaper at $14. 714-522-2000

Wouldnt adding inline restriction cause heat issues.

It changes the bleed off pressure.

What's the feeling about quick ratio man steering? Ought to be some road feel there.
