Since folks have been wondering, lets just start a thread. List your car (with pic if you've got it) and what events you are running.

Nothing exciting here, just a plain jane 2001 Z28:

Will only be competing in the autocross this year.

I'll be there Saturday (definitely) and Sunday (hopefully) in my conservative family 4-door.

I'm planning on it, but the question is will the car be finished?

The engine is in and runs, but no brakes, rear or interior. Also lots of little crap to be finished.

Definitely maybe

Driving in on Thursday...I would hate to be in a thrash like I was last year.

Had a little hood problem at the Ga event earlier this year but that has been fixed.

looking forward to a trouble free weekend

I hope to get there Friday in time to leave with the cruise. I might be late and have to meet somewhere along the route. I'll be coming through Cherokee, so maybe I'll meet there. Otherwise plan to autocross, but no drag racing on Sunday. I hope to be at Z Max Sunday in Charlotte. Staying at Mainstay. Looking forward to seeing everyone.

on the first day lol...

You could call me part of Hector's pit crew so I won't be "participating" in the drags or auto x but will be along for the "ride"

in either this for comfort/speed

or this because it fits the "environment" better

Hopefully this will be ready by then. I just had to overhaul the engine it lost oil pressure and scratched up some bearings. I know it will be in some high class company but I won't mind, it should be nice to see all of the high end cars that come to this event. Will hopefully be able to go on the long cruise and to dinner didn't sign up for autocross or drag racing.

I'm hoping to have some engine tuning done by then. It already has more camber, front / rear bar rate, and the clutch is working like it should.

Mary and I will be there. I'm anxious to try out my new Jake's Rod Shop rear TQ Arm suspension at the drags. Worked great in Michigan. Now let's see if I can run the equivalent of a 12 sec ET. Vinnie bailed. (engaged) Jimmy bailed. (killer Jets tickets)

So, I was also tempted to steal Hoover since:
A: it has AC
B: it has Connelly leather
C: It gets better gas mileage

But I don't like beating on other people's cars.

Steve Chryssos
09-04-2009, 10:59 AM
Yeah, me too. Mr. Excitement. Last year was such a thrash that we spent all winter and most of spring tweaking his car. Fuel system, fuel cell, front suspension and a new 1000Ft Lb rated 4L80E. It's set on kill, but we'll need to wait another year to find out if it can win.

He promises to do both events next year.

bill,

i noticed that the cruise doesn't officially start until 4pm on friday. there are a few of us that were going to hit the dragon after lunch and maybe catch up with the cruise later in the day.

has the route been finalized? if so, is there a rally point at the start or half way thru we can catch up at?

The cruise starts promptly at Noon. We will leave the hotel then. It will go 321 to foothills parkway, then to dragon, turn around at Deal's Gap and head back to foothills. Then on to Keisler Transmission for a shop tour and dinner. Plan to eat about 4pm. I would say to meet us at the juncture of foothills pkwy and 129, probably about 1:30?

I will be there Thursday, of course I am leaving this Sunday to travel to Newport to work. So I will be about 40 minutes from there. My wife and friends will be there later that night. that did mine. Only difference is that he really has not put much time in the car. Has had it for over 2 months and still not done. David picked up the car the other day, having the roll bar re-sprayed. The trunk is done, carpet finished. He will put the headliner in after the roll bar repaint.

The black car should be there...nice looking ride!

What is the state farm agent's name?

Will y'all be at the Mainstay? Ron will be there again with the blue Mustang

We will be staying at the Mainstay. The agency is actually owned by Bennet Deane. Our friend Beth Simmons works there. They are coming up with my wife Emily Thursday night. I am working over in Waterville for 6 weeks, so I am bringing my car with me. They are going to take it back after the RTTH5.
When folks come down I40 Thursday at the NC/TN border blow your horn, I will be taking a Hydro Turbine apart at the power plant on the river. We had to wait for rafting season to end.
Well I have to back outside, I am finishing up my power steering swap on my beat up Camaro. The manual steering sucked in the autocross in GA.

if a weather forecast a week out in the mountians would hold. They can't get it right on a day to day basis here.

On a seperate note. Who is the guy in Fl that puts the cover shot onto a metal sign? Saw a picture the Gulbranson had hanging in his garage and he said you gave him the name and number.

So you are putting on PS2's for the event? Are you leaving the R888's for me to take home. LOL

I do not care who does it, but would love a couple of signs. Hit me with his number and when you have time send him over the high res of the cover. I assume that is the way the cover was printed with all the writing and other caption pics?

I look forward to picking it up where we left off at Bowler.....Make sure you have enough room in your suitcase to pack your A game.:enguard:

Cool deal.. I found your 'Vette to be rather tasty.. and I heard you're even bringing some fresh meat for the grinder ;)

Maybe this time you will get a chance to take Penny for a lap.

Oh by the way.. I have the new PHR :yum:

I got my hands on the new PHR a few days ago, they did a really great job.

I am not bringing the vette this time, Just the Camaro and the Mustang if I can get the Camaro done.....between coats of paint on the front end as I type this.....need to give my self more than 6 weeks to build a car next time.

get Bob Johnson's opinion on this, he seems to be "in the know"We did. As near as we can tell, he thinks this is a good idea. Others have warned us away.

It depends on the actual time... and that will be the final decision. But I can't wait until then, so I gotta get going on my updates. Hint: the car's on jackstands now as the wheels are getting re-done.

Long and the short of this is I started ordering parts mid July and the teardown started the first week of August...been a long 5 weeks

I'm not going to make it. Lots of excuses, but the bottom line is I waited too late, and life got in the way. I got to the point of having to cut corners, and it just isn't worth it to have to do it over correctly. The car has been apart six years, whats a little more time. Hate to miss seeing everyones cars. I already told Bill about giving up my autocross slot, and the mainstay will have an extra room also. Check if you need it.

- have a good time
- make new friends and visit with old ones again at the Friday Open House and dinner at our shop
- get some new NT05 meats on the Kuda so I don't slide off the mountain or take out too many cones (I burned off the Proxes4 at the Mopar Nats last month burnout contest, and they are too slipery for a track, and nearly bald)
- don't get another speeding ticket horsing around

It's always good to come down and hang out with you'z guys. We were all set to go right up to 8PM last night when we checked the weather.

We lose two days in hauling down and back. And we're very busy with orders here. Twist has a good reputation for filling orders in a timely fashion. I'd like to keep it that way. So I was already nervous about stealing time. But we were coming anyway. I've been to every RTTH except the inaugural. I cherish that event.

The foul weather added a variable that put us over the edge. There will be other events. Seems like the right thing to do.

I can understand making a business decision based on rain, especially with a 2-day travel time involved. While you(and any others that decide the same)will be missed, I think I along with the others completely understand.

I completely understand Steve. In every aspect. We decided not to bring a brand new fresh car out and break it in on rainy streets. Like Forumla said, no tags, no insurance, wet streets and 80 cars in blind corners...........I may do the dragoin in the truck if it looks ugly! But I am going up there to drink moonshine and beer anyway! Were I as far away as you, and only had one driver to drive the rig, in the rain, I would probably pass also.

It is a beautiful night in Pigeon Forge right now guys, just for those wondering. We have a 40% chance of rain Friday, Saturday and Sunday. I expect a shower or two but feel we are in good shape. Steve, I understand your decision, it is not like you are two blocks away, but still, sorry we will not see you here. Other than drag racing, we will still do the event, rain or shine. We have cruised in the rain before, and since the autocross lot and insurance had to be prepaid, we might as well race. Several are already here tonight and we have been out cruising the strip. Well, it looks like I'm going to be a spectator this weekend. I have not chased down this ignition problem yet and I am running out of time. And no, unbelievably it is not the opti. There is a problem in the ignition control modeule circuit and I think that I've eliminated everything expect for a broken wire somewhere in the wiring harness. Unless I find it very quickly tomorrow after work, I don't think that I'm going to have time to disassemble the wiring harness to find the problem in time to be ready Satrurday morning. I was very happy with the overall performance of the Buick today, This was the farthest it's been driven at one time since I bought it. The tires shocked me on how well they griped the road in the rain..

"The dragon is a Great place to test new tires!!!" :twothumbs

See everyone at the Auto-X tomarow!!!

Hey I brought my wife this year, actually it is our anniversy this weekend , this was my gift from her.
Not the the trip itself or even coming here, she rode with me on the dragon.
Im with MIGOAT on the extra brake, my car sounded like it had those high powered stereos in it lots of BASS, "BOOM,BOOM" from her hitting the imginary brake on her side of the car floor.

There was several wives in attendance.

My wife and tommycomfort's wife( yep she had on a cast) did some talking, and we managed to hook up with a few other couples.

I would like say a BIGGG THANKS to a couple of people, to Bill Howell for the use of his shop to replace my steering box.

And to Scott W aka xxxturbo6 for helping me change it out, and to the others providing moral support, it was great to meet you all.,,HectorM52.... Brett from Air Ride, and others.. I just can remember.

The ride was awesome, my car handled well, steered well, hadn't had good decent steering in awhile.

Danm you guys ..now you got me thinking what i hafta do to get my ride more suited to handle better.

All the rides there where impressive!!!

I had a great time as well!

Bill thank you again for your awesome hospitality and putting everything together.

If anyone was around Adam's truck (HectorM52) during any of the cruise or ran the Auto X I am sure I have pictures of your car. PM me w/ your email address and what car you had and I'll send you pics. Had to leave early due to family so I don't have any drag pics.

I had fun going through the Tail, I realized I will need to put some brakes on the car soon but man I loved having three sets of brakes
The Front
The Rear
and the Wife.
Brake hunny this is a really sharp turn........ baby your going too fast,,, it's raining so slow down...:hand:.... HAHA LMFAO

Overall it was great due to the amount of overall things going on in Pigeon it was wide open.

Hmmmm, sounds familiar. I had my wife shotgun and mom in the backseat. (mom is 73) but really they don't say much. However, on the way back from Keisler's, on one of them back roads, the car got extremely out of shape (unintentional of course) and there was dead silence for several miles.

I used it & still come up about 4 miles short of getting to the end of the foothills pkwy. Thanks to Michael & his friend for watching my car when they got to it ,while their wonderful wives that took us to get gas. It was a great week end & had lots of fun with all of you. I have been to all the runs so far . I also had fun kicking Bills Charger around some also. I think the Goat may have felt neglected this week end. Looking forward to next year.
