Hello All,
Below is a link to some pic's I took Sunday (Aug 16th) at the Concours d'Elegance in Pebble Beach. I am by no means a professional photographer, just wanted to post up some pic's to share with fellow forum members.

Slightly off topic, but below is another link to pic's I took at Point Lobos State Reserve the day before the show. It's in Carmel CA, just a short drive from Pebble Beach. An amazingly beautiful part of California!

Thanks for the pics - it was my first time there and the experience was amazing... you'd never know there was a slump in the economy if you attended this event.

Yea, no kidding! Carmel was jam packed everyday.
It would be cool to maybe organize a Pro Touring group next year :twothumbs

Cool pictures,thanks for sharing...:smoke:
For $175,I decided to pass on the Concours this year,I worked at Pebble Beach for many years and was always at this event.
I remember the year Chevrolet brought all the concept cars and displayed them on the lawn...Mako Shark,Manta Ray,the turbo Corvette...all cars I just read about in books and finally I had my chance to see them in person...I was in heaven!
And yes,you are right,Point Lobos is a beautiful state reserve...it's also on Arnold's list of closures.Sure hope that never happens...

MuscleCarJohn is more of a local, so maybe he can chime in.
I did not have time to do everything I wanted to, but below is a list of activities that you can pick from.

Food:
Had dinner in Carmel 3 nights and 2 of the nights were very good, but one was INCREDIBLE! I had the beef cannelloni at Casanova's (Italian/French) and it was unbelievable! The other 2 places we had dinner at were Flying Fish Grill (Japanese) and La Bicyclette (French).
For lunch we hit up a couple deli's. Compango's Deli in Monterey is nothing fancy, but the sandwiches were good (huge) and they had this side dish (like potato salad) bacon, broccoli, raisin and sunflower seed that sounded disgusting but was actually very tasty. The owner was super friendly and had a steady stream of young military cadets from the local bases. The other deli we picked up some food from was Nielsen Brothers Market and Deli in Carmel. They had a guy out front by the sidewalk BBQ up some fresh tri tip for sandwiches. Grabbed a couple of those and headed back to our room and ate them on our balcony.
Had drinks and listened to live music at Sly McFlys on Cannery Row in Monterey. I can't remember much, but was told I had a blast! Another place that was recommended, but we did not visit was Mission Ranch restaurant in Carmel. I was told that it's owned by Clint Eastwood. It has a piano bar area that I was told is very good. If your looking to have a drink in a more relaxed setting this would be a good choice. I heard good things about this place and wish I would have had more time to check it out.
For more ideas you can try Yelp.Com . Lost of reviews and ideas to read before you start your trip.

I would certainly recommend taking the time to drive down the coast to Big Sur,the views are incredible.Stop down and have an ambrosia burger @ Nepenthe's then on to the River Inn where you can plop yourself in a nice comfy chair and put your feet in the river with a cool drink in hand.
Ton's to do on the peninsula,from Carmel to Monterey,Cannery Row,Fisherman's Wharf,the aquarium,etc.
PM me as you get closer and I'll try to help you out.

I grew up in Santa Cruz, just a short distance away from Monterey and Carmel. It is still, by far, one of the most beautiful parts of California to visit. I miss it up there....
Thanks for sharing the photos. I'm sure there was LOTS of money being thrown around up there...

I'll second the food at Casanova's. My wife and I ate there on our honeymoon, and every time we visit.
Carl Casanova (yes, it really is my name.)

LOL...whatcha think you own the place Carl?
I used to selll wine & spirits and Casanova's was one of my accounts.
You should see their wine cellar,it's actually tunneled out under the street in front of the building,it's a Wine Spectator Grand Award winner every year so yeah...real high-end bottles there.
It's voted most romantic restaurant on the peninsula almost every year...

gorgeous pics! Reminds me of the time I was a little kid, I was living in paris with my family (we moved alot due to my dad's job) and there was a local concours show. I was too young to appreciate it, but my dad happened to strike up a conversation with the (american) owners of the best-of-show car, a delahaye T165 cabriolet. They were kind enough to let me sit in the thing! Wasn't until years later that I saw the same car on tv that I realized what an amazing chance that was.
Even though I was too young to know what I was looking at, I knew it was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen.
Is the pebble beach concours open to the public? For viewing, I mean--obviously not any old schmoe can pull his car onto the lawn, but is the event completely invitation-only?

I had another friend ask me the same question and yes it is open to the public.
This was my first time to the show and it was a last minute trip to Carmel for us. Doing the Concours on Sunday was not on our original agenda, but once we found out everything that was happening up there it was a no brainier. It was more of a "whole experience" than a car show. The cars are done to a level of detail that is unbelievable. Also plenty of "car stuff" happening the days leading up to the big show on Sunday.
