How many people are waiting for Rick's Hot Rod Shop, or anyone for that matter, to offer a race style stainless tank that is designed to prevent fuel starvation under high G's on a road course?
I've heard of a couple of custom Rick's tanks that were built for this purpose - one for Mark Stielow, and one for user Mazspeed with some design help from Campbell Auto. I haven't yet found the 3rd mentioned on Lateral G.
It seems weird were supposed to requisition a custom tank job to reuse either of those prior designs, or to design the tank pickup system ourself. In either case, we don't have any guarantees that we won't end up with the starvation problems.
The way I see it, they are the experts, and I should haven't to spend the time to figure that out. I'd pay a decent premium over the cost of the their normal prices if I was sure it would work. I'm a lot more skeptical to order a custom tank for which I don't know what the cost will be and for which I don't know if the high G fuel starvation issues are solved.
Perhaps if we show enough interest, we can convince them to offer race style upgrade(s), or we can organize a group buy on a bunch of custom race prepped tanks.
Post here if you'd buy a custom race style tank here that has the added design features to deal with starvation (assuming the price was not insane).
