Ceramic Engines (http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/1614/)
Now I know that these engines would be outrageously expensive and they are unproven when it comes to reliability, but wouldn't it be awesome to have something like that for your car? Its just something that I thought I'd share with everybody.

Interesting link. Geocities in a common free website hosting service that anyone can use. The email posted is for a @gmx.net which is a Daimler-Chrysler handle.
Interesting, not sure if it's more than a random expression of opinion, or real facts.

Also interesting in that it says it was last updated 22-07-2003. When it sounds too good to be true... :getout:

My brother was an Mechanical Engineer at University of Illinois... and he mentioned a long while ago about ceramic engines and how it were possible and they would be pretty much last forever type of deal, main problem was cost of manufacturing the engine would be astronomical.
i dont know of anything but what he had mentioned to me, and im no engineer so i really cant comment on this all to much. Any of our engineers want to chime in here?

Some cars like Porsche use ceramic brakes, correct? Used from aircraft brakes? That has to be alot of pressure and heat. How do those stack up to constant wear? Are they made out of the same type of ceramic as that article?
