I came across some cool stuff this weekend and didn't bookmark them. :pat: Can't find them in my browser history either. If anyone has seen these please reply with a link. Thanks.

The first was a rear leaf spring shackle that pivots. It was for road racing and not the offroad/4WD types. It allowed the rear end and springs to rotate as one unit. I seem to recall it being for 1st and/or 2nd gen's.

The other was a "Coil Spring Spacer" used for ride height adjustment. It looked like a cross between the AFCO one below and the one here http://www.budzter.com/adjusters.html except it was gold in color and I think had an notched collar to use an adjustable spanner wrench.

Any help is appreciated.

The "gold" adjusters I saw are a Landrum unit. I either saw it on Pozzi's site or at Carl Casanova's site: http://www.geocities.com/casanoc/ Thought they had a notched ring....

Still need to find those darn shackles though.

Global West has shackles that have spherical bearings in them. AFCO makes some too.
I like the AFCO adjuster in your photo, it has a larger ID hole than some of the others.

David, Your Rock!! :bananna2:

Those are the ones I saw. Thanks for the find!

BTW, I kept finding these ones all day not realizing they where basically the same thing as the GW's. http://www.aor4x4.com/orbit-eyepoly-eye.htm

The pic on the left is the A.O.R piece while the pic on the right is the AFCO unit. Both of these bare units are way cheaper (<$50 vs $460) than the bare GW units.

About the adjusters, wouldn't a toothed/notched threaded ring be easier to adjust, especially with a spanner wrench like coilovers use? Seems like a no-brainer to me.

Has anyone used either of these types of products?

Regards,

You can get the coil spring adjuster from www.pitstopusa.com I just finished putting some in my 68 camaro

Would that "orbit eye" be beneficial on a pt car?? Just a question... Dave maybe you got this one.

I'd thought of notching the adjuster, but a wrench would not fit inside the frame rail to adjust it anyway. I was thinking of cutting an access hole in the side of the subframe and adjust with a flat bladed tool like a drum brake adjuster.

Also search on "johnny joint" for the spherical joint.
Make sure the OD is correct for your spring.
I haven't used them but talked to Doug at GW once and he feels they would be great on a street or track car, and would help reduce corner exit power oversteer. He thought that an autocross car might want some corner exit power oversteer and maybe this setup would not provide enough of that but it wasn't tested either way.

I'd like to try them after I get my car baselined with more conventional bushings.
Just remember, don't use them on the upper end of the rear spring shackle!

I had saved a pic of a johnny joint a while back when I was researching 4WD stuff. At the time I never thought of it's use in a PT car. I've attached one below.

Hey guys,

I have had thought of using these "Orbit Eyes" when I get to the spring swaps on my car.

I liked the thoughts of these versus the GW Cat5 stuff simply for the lower maintenance associated with the poly/plastic races.

This post is the first time I have seen the Orbit EYes. They are very similar to the Johnny Joints that currie Enterprises offers. They have a poly race and are available in 3 sizes.

Rubicon Express offers a similar product (Super Flex Joint), but theirs use a nylon race versus the poly in the competitors versions. They also offer 2 sizes. Heres a link:

Hope this helps,
