It doesn't matter what stage of the build process you're in. Go out and run your cars! They deserve it and so do you. :6gears:

it's cool that you run your car at so many track-days.

is there anything you can say you wish you'd have done a little different now that you've gotten the miles and track time on it?
eg. suspension parts, sway-bar, drivetrain or interior mods?

Its fun driving the car to the limit. Even though It hasn't been very well sorted, its still always a blast. I ran auto club speedway with a bad ignition. Car was missing past 4k RPM and I still had fun.

Yup, I definitely have a list.

1. Don't cut corners on brakes. Go with a proper wilwood, c5/c6 or baer setup from the start. Brakes give you confidence.

2. Parts don't make a car fast, the driver does. You can spend all the money you want on go fast parts for your car, but whats the point if you don't ever plan to use them. I've seen Miata's lap Porsche GT3rs's like they are standing still.

3. Hooker Headers suck. Fitment wise, clearance wise, all around. They do breath right. I'm about to drop some coin on Lemons or doug's shortys.

4. Proper seats are the best investment in a pro-touring car. Period. I see "pro-touring" cars with stock seats and know instantly that the car is not much more than a cruise night car. There is no possible way a car can be pushed hard without proper seats. The stock seats were like sitting on pizza boxes. Its downright dangerous driving a car fast with stock seats.

5. Subframe connectors from the start.

6. Expect your car to get dirty if you want to have fun.You WILL slide off the track eventually. Its only dirt. Expensive paint jobs belong on show cars. I love a good paint job, but I'd be worried sick out at the track if I had one. Thats why you see so many cars taped up with masking tape out there.

Great to see you enjoy your car. Hard to do that when it is sitting in the garage. Whether you are just driving it or racing it, the fact you are using it is the most important thing.
Dirty side down.....cruise on!

You are definitely an inspiration to anyone building a car. "Get it done and drive it!" That's the message that we should all promote.

As for headers, don't run shorty's. I know it's tempting in terms of fitment, but your ZZ502 will run out of steam above 4500 rpm. Since you're tracking the car, you will be disappointed and your carburetor will hate you. Google "Header Design" or "header primary length". It won't take much research to talk you out of shorty headers.

Congrats on the miles.

Thanks for the heads up on the shortys. I passed on them.

Out of curiosity is your Car Olympic Gold? After close inspection I don't think I ever realized it was also gold:worship:

Nice work man.

I feel you on the brakes/seats portion. The Sparco seats are kick ass in my car and the upgrade to the racing Alcon brakes make it fun to drive at the limits since I KNOW I can stop if need be.

I logged 21,326 miles this year in my 68 Camaro. It's my only car and I drive it everyday.
