What tire / wheel combo is everyone running with a Chassisworks sub-frame?

My front tires are rubbing the fender and frame when you turn the wheels.

I have 245 / 40 / 18 Toyo R888 tires and the wheels are 18 x 9. I don’t remember the backspacing we used.

Here is what I found on the Chassisworks website about front tire size: “The system accepts factory height (25.5”) tires, with up to an 11” tire section width and 5” wheel backspacing. Acceptable sizes include: 275/45-16, 275/40-17, 275/35-18, 275/30-19, and 275/25-20. Note: 1967-68 Camaro fenders may limit tire section width to 9.5”.”

Any suggestions? Should I change the BS? Use oversized inner fenders wells?

I will call Chassisworks on Monday to get their recommendations, but wanted to see if anyone else had issues.

Thanks,

Mark

Mark,
You can easily measure the backspace. Lay the wheel face down (on something soft!), put a straight edge across the rim and measure to the mounting surface. Now you will have more information on hand when you call Chassisworks.

Oddly, I have R888s 255/35R18 on 18x9 and yours tires look wider with 245/40s.

You don't have any negative camber in the alignment yet. That will help the outside. It won't help the inside. Are there bump stops for the steering?
