Hello everyone, I'm Marc and I'm new here.
I stumbled across this site and saw the wealth of knowledge, so I joined
I have a 65 Mustang Fastback which I mistakenly bought of ebay Feburary of 2008. It sat in the backyard for a while til i could make some space to work on it.

I stripped it all down, had it media blasted, and now I'm working on replacing rusted portion with new replacement and/or modified metal.

Since this is my first car I've ever tried to work this extensively on, and have learned welding on. I'm taking it a bit easy I suppose. Many Pro-tourning or Resto-mod Mustangs of my era, fabricate a new frame and do away with the subframes, and I feel that sticking with the original subframes and stifining up the chassis in other ways, I can save some weight on the final product, and keep a better Power/Weight Ratio.

When I started this project I didnt think I would be making the car too wild, but I don't want to me just another Vintage Mustang on the road, so the bug took over.
The Engine I have for this car I actually purchased in October of 2006. I purchased it to fiddle around and rebuild an then either sell or find a car for it. Well I found a Ford 351W that I ended up getting for free. I stripped it to the bare block and had it sent off to a local machine shop. The engine is now a completely forged (probably overkill) 434 CID Windsor. When I finally got the rotating assembly put in and I was looking for heads, I started looking at Vintage Mustangs, to put the engine into. I really didnt pay attention to the fact that a 351W wont fit too well between the shock towers of a 65/66 Mustang, I found this out after I bought the car, and it had a 351W and the headers were so smashed I don't think it was able to breath well. The engine plans have changed so many times I still don't know what I will do. Ive thought of just N/A Carb, then Fuel Injected, then Fuel Injected with Turbos, or a Supercharger, or N/A Fuel Injected with 8 individual stacks. Now I'm thinking about doing the Fuel Injected with 8 stacks, and somehow make a custom intake box to sit on top to suck the air in from intercooled twin turbos.

As for supension I've gone with an RRS kit all the way around, a 3-Link in the rear, and Macphereson Style front Coilovers and tubular lower control arms. I also have 14" Baer Brakes to go all the way around and power steering.

I will copy this post into a build thread soon and update as I go along. This week I am off work, so I've decided to spend all my time working on the Mustang since I am quite a way behind schedule (planned to have it in paint by now) but the delay is too be expected I guess....
I upload all my project photos to photobucket, here is the link if you wanna see more...
