Hi everybody,
I’m new here and from Northern Chicago. This is my first official muscle car and I still can’t believe its mine!!!! I've had A LOT of cars in my life but never my dream car well I finally made that life long dream a reality ON my 31st birthday and bought a 69 Nova!! This car for what ever the reason has been a dream of mine since I was a boy. I loved the car so much that I even had posters of it hanging in my room growing up.

As it stands she just had a full frame off restoration with only about 1K miles in the clock since completion and is virtually stock. I say virtually because the engine had to go .30 over due to some scorching on one of the cylinder walls and it has flowmaster style mufflers on it but aside from that she’s stock. However, I do plan on moding her over time to achieve the pro-touring look, feel and performance BUT I will enjoy every minute with her no mater what condition she's in!!!

GOD I’m SO happy I finally own it!!!!!!
Thanks,
John

Thanks guys!!!

I'm about 10 minutes west of Great America. I would love to meet up with some of you guys to check out what you have as well. Shoot me a PM and let’s try to set something up. My buddy just picked up a 70 Chevelle as well (it’s a little rough around the edges but who cares it’s still a nice car) and his should be up and running by next week some time and I'm sure he would love to join us.

I've just done about the same thing as you. I bought a 72 Nova around my 31st birthday. Mine doesn't look near as nice as yours. I've gotta do a total frame off on mine. Congrats on making your dream come dream!

Again thanks guys.

Okay guys I have to ask a question so PLEASE don’t kill me if this sounds stupid. All the cars that I've worked on over the last several years had a coil over and spring type suspension so lowering the car was rather easy. My question is what do I need to do to the suspension on this car to lower it? Will just a drop spindle in the front and letting out the air in the rear air shocks work or is that not the proper way of going about it? I’m not only looking to lower the stance of the car but to stiffen things up and get ride of the major body roll. And my last question is what size tire is possible in the rear without a mini tube? Can I get a 275 or 285 back there?

Sweet start TI.
should be a fun project.

275's on a 9" rim should do the trick. Heres my old 69 SS.

Before you start buying parts you might want to sit down seriously create a budget, make a list of parts based on your needs of this car. Make a plan and try to stick to it.
