Ok, I've PM'd Matt at Art Morrison, someone at DSE also as those are the two subframes I'm thinking of for my 68 vert project trying to see if the LS7 dry sump pan will clear either subframe... DSE didn't know (suprising, I would have thought that Tito's pan for the stock subframe would clear), and Matt, well, you didn't even reply... anyone have any first hand experience with either of these with the LS7? thanks- Dan

The DSE frame was built to clear the stock LS7 pan, and it fits like a glove!

As stated above it does fit like a glove, I just did it.

Excellent guys, thanks! I've been leaning towards the DSE- I'm surprised they didn't know for sure.
Looks like the low mount a/c doesn't clear? (not surprised), also Whose headers are those? Also what did you use for mounts? I see they have std location vs moving the motor back 1.5"?
thanks- Dan

Don't be so sure the low mount A/C dosen't fit, ask for Mark when you call, he will awnser all your questions. I chose to build the accessory system with out air, stock gm setup with or without air. Not the prettyest accessory drive system but very functional and cheap- did I mention cheap! I still dont understand how gm can sell a complete system brackets/bolts/belts/ pump/huge altenator/tensioner/pulleys for 400 bucks(amazing).
The headers are from DSE- designed specifically for the LS7 and there chassis. The steering shaft fits between two of the tubes, they fit nice and all 304 ss- 1-7/8"

excellent, thanks! It would be great if I could use the accessories too, I picked up a 07 z motor from a forum member over the winter and it has all the stuff on the front still.

I seem to remember that Jackass uses an AME frame and as far as I know the LS9 is dry sump. The AME frame does fit the stock accessories including the A/C. I was also able to install a Sanden compressor with the stock accessory drive using $100 bracket from Vintage Air.
