Since VENGEANCE is a pro build with wild this and that I wanted a LOW BUCK ride i could take out and beat the shizz out of when i want to got to the corner store.. I really liked my 69 GTO but my heart was with the 67-68 camaro body so off i went.

I found a real RS 67 camaro around my way for a good price, so i decided to pick it up.
I want to do a cheap Streetfighter i can do alot of things with myself.

so here it goes..

My bud David at Road Killer Kustoms helped me bring it home..

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/3794034602_51346b241b_o-1.jpg
It a rusty and dusty roller.. and i dont care.. i dont want to go through paint jail right now.. ahah
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/3794034610_a12eb98907_o-1.jpg
The guy who had it before me went through it some and sprayed it with a cheap Silver... im not a fan of silver but since it is presentable ill roll with it for a little..
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/3794034616_bc0f88ba86_o-1.jpg
Engine bay was pre painted but was dirty as fack..
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/3794089538_d4d4abebf2_o-1.jpg
interior was haggard a bit.. nice center console and other bits but still alot to change out..
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/3794089548_17f4412140_o-1.jpg
Optional rear seat fold down still there..
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/3794089550_6c3f6fabee_o-1.jpg
But the hideaways were in great shape tho.. no problems there.

So David had a healthy mean aluminum headed, roller rockered, holley750, 383 stroker he had built so i picked it up from him and had him put it in there..

man it looks so good dirty...

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/3794034626_8587728b6d_o-1.jpg

we also put some nice hooker headers on there.. man these are probably the best fit headers ive seen out of the box.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/3794034630_dde791296b_o-1.jpg

I'm digging it man. Just don't blow your other build budget!

Mr.VENGEANCE
08-05-2009, 06:54 PM
Hahahah!

nah im back on Vengeance also.. when you take alot of time and effort to build a top notch car it can take a bit of patience and perseverance.

And i noticed another thing.. to actually be able to be patient and allow good work to not be rushed PLUS be the hotrodder you are.. you need something to tide you over..

and this is what Storm is..

a low buck brawler..

so.. heres more..

I cant sit on a set of darn ralleys for too long so i decided to nip that in the bud QUICK!..

I tend to do a lot of research on offsets and backspacings and ive been in love with these wheels since i was into VWs.. O.Z. Racing Mito wheels.. true 3 piece racing wheel.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/IMG_6015-1.jpg?t=1235951101

These are the wheels i was making fun of Hetchorod in his now infamous "HellaFlush" thread.

Note the "stretch" in them tires!...LOL!
dont worry.. the tired changed also.. got to get a set of centercaps tho..

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/IMG_2000-1.jpg?t=1235951474

These wheels are LOOOOOOOOOONNNG discontinued.. and few folks know about them but they are a household name in German tuners.

so rarely do these wheels come up.. and even more rare that they are in the same offsets plus 5x120.. i scooped them up for a good price.. maybe a third on what i spent on Vennys wheels..

Mr.VENGEANCE
08-05-2009, 06:57 PM
so while we were swapping the 383 i test fit the fronts..

pretty much dead on!.. save for the tires.. no rubbin.

Mr.VENGEANCE

So before i threw the wheels on there.. dont worry i know the order of these things..

I went scowling craigslist and David used some hookups he had to get some nice parts here and there..

we went into the braking system and it has disc brakes up front and drum rears.. for now.. we just freshened it up..
Also we threw on a set of Hotchkis drop coils with a full coil cut out..

it had a non posi rear end so i got a nice built 10 bolt posi with 355 gears and threw it under there.. more to the lowbuck thing..

it also originally had a 2 speed powerglide so i popped in a nice pro built th350 tranny that can hold more ponies than it puts out so i was stoked..
and to top off that i put in a craigslist B&M shifter to hit the gears..

i WAS going to go with a manual but i wanted one that my wife could drive so i kept it auto.. man i must love my wife..

so here is the interior.. i installed the new seats, carpet and odds and ends.. davids guys fabbed up the little autometer gauges and threw them in there..

the cool thing is that all the gauges were out of Bad Penny!
I bought em for Venny when i was BRAND new to this site 3 years ago..thanks Steve..

Youd get a kick where i got the carpet from!.. did you know you could carpet your camaro for 30 bucks from walmart?
ahah!

I kept it pretty much no nonsence and youd be surprised how nicely the remaining interior pieces cleaned up!

check!

Mr.VENGEANCE
08-05-2009, 07:25 PM
moving along..

so you saw the engine bay.. David worked some magic with the wiring hiding plug wires and installing the MSD stuff.. and i cleaned, painted, repaired, revised this and that and here it is..

before..
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/3794034626_8587728b6d_o-1.jpg

After..
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/3763902879_5c89042c9b_o-1.jpg

oh and dont mind the support bars and the hood strikers i didnt install them before this pic..

And great call on the cheap project to tide you over while the big daddy takes its sweet ole time.

Hey Mr. V,

I love them wheels. Rare and delicious. Did you have to have them modified in any way to fit? I have always apreciated the Dubber's commitment to go to great lengths to get BBS LM's to fit with a change of barrel or lip.

If I was 58% more baller I would apply a euro type wheel to my 67.

Mr.VENGEANCE
08-06-2009, 09:23 AM
So i gunmetal greyed out the rear tail panel.. pretty stoked how it came out.. never mind the trunk lock.. still have to install it.

also installed a nice set of taillights.. they actually were Vennys old ones.. oh the benefit of having 2 of the same car.. the interchangeability... Also i scotchbrited the bumper for that dull look..
i personally dont like brightwork much..

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/3795851070_a05cb41379_o-1.jpg

Also i blacked out the quarter windows and trim.. also gunmetaled the lower rocker area.. kind like that too.. like accentuating the coke bottle shape we all love so much..

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2009/08/3795026913_2e2362e9d7_o-1.jpg

Im having a ball doing little odds and ends to make this thing look and act right... so good when you spend a little time out there working on it.

i wish i had a garage tho.. the parking lot of my loft sucks to work on a car.. plus my neighbors are nosy.

Tidied up the back area a little bit also.. just for now..

A CAGE is going in there soon.. plus a set of racing seats.. so this is very temporary..

not pictured but i got the DSE drop leafs installed in the rear.. not sure if its low enough tho.. may throw in a lowering block to drop that last bit..

Also im still debating weather or not to minitub it.. i dont really care if it is a RS or not.. but i kinda like the rear folddown seat..

and of course the Cage.. shoot the cars so rusty it needs it!.. ahahhaah

I have a set of big Wilwoods that ive been sitting on for Venny.. BUT.. i bought them so long ago in red.. now my taste has changed a bit and im thinking to put these red ones on Storm and get a new set of Black ones for Venny..

heres them when they were on Venny a LOOOONG time ago..
how things change over 2 years or so.. you can tell with the old Boyds.. ahahhah!

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/noimg.gif

what do yall think?.. should i throw them on Stormy?

Will they fit inside the OZ wheels?

Vegas69
08-06-2009, 10:24 AM
Agree....need to make sure the calipers will clear the wheels with a reasonable backspace. Look like 13" rotors. Should be good with 17-18' wheels if the pad is right or you can space the wheels out with a hub adapter of spacer with longer studs.

Mr.VENGEANCE
08-06-2009, 10:32 AM

thanks!

Yes i tagged it and covered it.. ive been driving it for 2 weeks STRAIT.
loving every minute too..

as for the calipers fitting behind the OZs.. im not sure.. youre right, better find that out then..

The OZs are 18s and more than likely they will fit.. because in the pics those were 17s.. but i upgraded to 14inch discs.. so it still may be an issue.
I hope they will fit.. cause this thing hauls a sweeping, swaying, and fishtailling ASS.

Vegas69
08-06-2009, 10:44 AM
It will be super tight with 14's. I ended up going to 13" rotors when I got my step lip 18's due to caliper and nut interference. I wanted my backspacing perfect. You need a minimum of 2mm or .078 clearance.

Yea man, it really is like that.. from a certain distance you would thing.. man thats clean.. but its really dirty..

lets face it, some of us on here including me are spending somewhere in the 10k mark JUST for paint.. and that can be nerve racking when you go to say the bowling alley to get a couple of games in and you KNOW it could be some asstard with a camry that doesnt care if you spent that on paint.

This car.. is quite the opposite..

I went to Chick fil A a couple of days ago in the Camaro.
I got a number 1 with a powerade and it was about dusk.. as i was rolling out of the A i noticed how nice the sunset was.. and decided to park it out in the parking lot and sit on the hood of the car and eat my food.. after the food i got to reading "The Road" by Cormac McCarthy and I can tell you this my friends.. all the things that worried us about how much we spend on these cars didnt get in the way of that chicken sandwich, my homie Cormac, and that beautiful sunset..

Luckily I had my camera with me..

Iam sticking all my money in my camaro and its taking awhile to finish so i picked this up and added a few things to roll around until the main project is complete. by the way you camaro does look good :smoke:

The MOST money im going to spend on this one is mostly suspention..

and the only reason that hasnt been done yet is because i havent pulled the trigger on whos kits im going to use..

there are soooo many good options.. its hard to say yes to one anymore..

i dont like air ride so thats out.. coilovers is a must.. at least some proven specs on some.. things of that nature..

leaning twords the dse stuff or maybe the speedtech.. anyone here running the speedtech stuff?

I am doing the same type build, all GO but with just a little show. I should have my Jakes front and rear setup soon. then i will have a killer 68 roller. Got an 04' GTO for cheap and robbed the ls1, t56 and brakes. Im still doing sheet metal work but should be ready when the suspension arrives. still trying do decide on paint...

Hey Vengeance. From what I hear and read about the Speed-tech, they are great products. I actually saw the Speed-Tech sub frame on the Karma build in person and it looks like a killer piece.
I know that there is a lot more on info on them with people that auto-x them on lateral-g.net.

Here is what I would suggest. OEM sub, ATS Steering Box, ATS spindles, SPC lower and Upper control arms. (for me I would go with Landrum adjusters and 600 Lb springs) But you want coil overs so I would Make my own upper mount then pick your choice or shocks and springs.
Weld the subframe. Since one of you motives is an AT home build, like me I would stay away from Bolt on stuff....
If you want a race insipred suspension then bite the bullett and get the JRS Apex suspension. For your expressed needs and plans I see little value to the ST sub...

You made a comment that you liked it when I was at the PSMC. I just ordered my Rushforths from Jon at Driverz Inc for my 69. https://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=49628

Not much in my build yet. But the wife said she wanted to see the 69 running by end of 2010! I got a $#&*load of work to do. Just started the mini tub and ordered wheels. Rearend and suspension will be next.

its all good my man.. you better get in the garage!

anyways..

so i picked up one of those nice chinspoilers from pro-spoilers.com
Its pretty heavy duty.. made of steel.. i can pretty much stand on the lip without the support bars.

i modified the stabilizer bars to go in.. i still need to add a nicer baseplate to be more structurally sound but you get the idea.

Aarrghh, you make me miss Atlanta so much with those sunset pics. I know the feeling when you have one of those "moments". I remember having one on the top parking deck at The Varsity. Just sat outside for about 10 min. sippin' on my medium F.O. and looking over the city skyline soaking up the finer points of life. What I wouldn't give to be there again.

Anyway...enough of that. I like the treatment on the handles and seeing all the different places you greyed/blacked out really sets that silver off. I kinda agree on the chrome theory. I hate seeing 'em over chromed so the black out treatment gives it good balance. Keep posting man cuz I'm gonna keep looking.

Dammit!! :machine: Someone figured it out before me. Apparently LONG before me. lol Just spent a few hours trying to figure it out. I knew they looked familiar too. LOL Oh well. They look good on there though. And uhhhh, ahem...since I've been trying to figure out an alternative to the ugmo circle mirrors on my 65 Chevelle other than Sport Mirrors, I think I'm gonna have to "borrow" this idea. Yeahhhh, now the hunt!

Side note: Does anybody remember the big VW Rabbit craze of the early 90's? Mods like dual headlight or square headlight kits, the moulded aero style Cabriolet kit put on to the 2 door hardtop Rabbit, the A-Team style 2 tone paintjobs and the side air vents grafted on the rear portion? I've been ALSO trying to remember what car those side vents came off of. I can't find any pics of either a Rabbit like this OR that mystery car. Anybody got a clue?

DUDE The Road rocks! Loved that book! Nice car Georgia Boy!

10-16-2009, 11:20 AM
68/camaroflThanks man!.. i love how Evade came out also!.. black and Carbonfiber.. right up my alley!

Ron.. yea man thats the thing.. Vengeance is still putting along.. but its along the lines of most builds on here.. Long.. expensive.. and require A LOT of patience... Storm is my pacifier till Venny is done..

and im having a ton of fun doing it on the low budge, scouring craigslists, yardsales, and swap meets.. then taking her to a local run spot and ripping up the curves.. even if she cant handle it yet..

ill be most happy when im done with Venny for sure.. but the widebody is taking a considerable amount of time to complete.. so im taking it slow.

Storm is just be a scarred up road bully...

Blazed.. I use NY fatcaps and NY thins... the originals.. the best...

Trey.. yea man thats the thing about ATL.. its still got SOME charm here and there between traffic and new lofts and strip malls.

BigX69.. Im working on Airflares now.. ahahah breakdancing is hard with these new kids new moves!

srh3trinity.. I wanted to do the Charcoal centers even before i did the stripe.. now i REALLY want to do em... ive just been driving her so much to
take the wheels off and have them powdercoated(which is the proper way to color them) despite keeping it on the low budget thing.. i just dont skimp on wheels..

oooooookaaayy..

SO..

I decided to learn how to swap an LS in Stormy.. shes sat around long enough.
Ive sidelined in this game long enough.. im doing it myself.

this is how im going to do it.. Im going to keep this one simple..

im going to put in a truck 5.3 with a 4L60E that I have had forever.. and use the BRP kit to put this thing in her..
https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2012/11/676920fbody20kit-1.jpg

once I get her running and have proven to myself that I can manage this anytime and with proper confidence I will put this LS7 i have laying here at my shop in..

starting out..

humble beginning.. wish me luck!

I'd come help out if I was back in Atlanta already, Amir. If I make it back before you finish, I'll let you know and offer my help then. As for the job itself, just take your time and do it right the first time. Plenty of resources here and on LS1tech to make this all happen. The hardest part will be all the little things; fittings, wiring, plumbing.

Good luck. Glad to see you working on her.

I know homie, thanks for that!

get her ready for the LS2 front runner setup.. had a little bit of a problem with my fuel injectors being shorter with the LS1 manifold.. so I added FAST injector spacers.. I hope I didnt make a mistake using it.. ahahha

other than that.. I got the wrong harmonic balancer.. I got the LS1 one.. which I need the tight LS2 one.

https://static1.pt-content.com/images/pt/2012/12/20121127175340-1.jpg

painted the bay, frame, manifold, and valvecover with a charcoal grey..

I like it!

I don't really want to call my car a street-fighter or a pro-tourer, I think of it as more of a "working car" not much show, boat loads of go (the go is in progress)

Nice car I have been inspired by your streetfighters...now Im trying to build something of my own :yeah: anyway whats the story with your window trim its hard to tell if its there or not...oh what suspension did you go with? Have you ever done anything with the ridetech 4 link

I am currently getting C5 Calipers swapped on my 68 with 13” rotors - what was needed to make these M Parallels fit? I found a set of staggered 18x8 & 18x9. What size spacers and wheel hub bore would I need?
