Hi, new guy here. I just bought a 67 firebird 400 car. The suspension on the car is pretty worn out, and was looking to make it handle better than stock. I'm not looking to spend a fortune on this car, so what would be good route to take to improve its performance? I'm going to replace almost all of the steering components, and was thinking some 1 1/8 and 7/8 sway bars, polygraphite bushings, and new springs. Any recommendations on who’s products to use or not too. Shocks?? What would be some good springs to use? I'm not sure I want to lower the car too much if at all, but I think the rear needs to come down a little bit. The rear currently has a 5 leaf leaf springs in it and it rides like an old truck. What size wheels and tires are you first gen guys running, the wheels on my car gotta GO! Thanks for your help.

A search will turn up a ton of information on the first gen F-body suspensions, everything from semi-budget to 5-alarm wallet fire type of stuff. Another common suggestion you'll see is to contact Mark at SC&C (www.scandc.com) for a supsension consult...he can be a bit tough to get a hold of, but has a very good understanding of what current options exist to get the most out of your application within a given budget.

I second the motion for talking to Marcus at SC&C. He has tons of knowledge and integrated suspension packages for all budgets.
