I was wondering if anyone here might have a plasma cutter to rent/let me borrow or you come cut for me the floor from my chevelle. I live in Durham,NC and trying to do this correctly yet the easiest way without having to buy one. If anyone can help me out please let me know. Brandon

I you can't find a plasma cutter have you thought about an air powered nibbler or a ziz wheel, either one would do a good job.

yeah I have a air saw,ziz wheel, and saw zaw but figured for doing a full trunk,2 1/4's, wheel wells and full floor plasma would speed things up alot!!!! I have been looking at craigslist but no really good deals for me yet in decent distances. I am hoping someone from NC area will pull through and give me a hand here.

Brandon, When I do a floor or trunk pan I do use the plasma cutter for the rough cuts, but my finish cuts are done with rotary cutter. Much better control and a cleaner finished edge. In past years I had no plasma cutter and did several pan jobs with the grinder, drill and rotary cutter. It is not that much faster and speed does not always equate to quality.

Brandon, A rotary cutter is what you are calling a ziz wheel. I have several from small right angle to my fav a Dynabraid 4" model. You can also convert your 4" grinder to one. I use the Dynabraid most of the time with a 1/32" wheel. Cuts fast and wears out fast as well.

I agree with Mike, the ziz or a sawzall will give you a better edge (less clean up) to weld back to.
