Steering wheel choices

I am getting really close on the charger project and need some help picking out a cool wheel for the car. I just don't like the original wheel on it but yet, don't want to make a bling statement with a new wheel. Any suggestions? It is a 72 charger, with basically a stock looking interior. I found this one, so you can see my taste, but I am open to suggestions. I get most of my good ideas right here from board members.

I have one that is similar to that one made by grant. Does Momo offer a metal adapter? That is what steered me to the grant. I did not like the plastic accordion.

That wheel you picked looks liike a modifed stock wheel actually. not bad for a stockish interior. I like almost all the Momos. The Jet in balck is subtle

I like that wheel a lot Bill. I have a Momo in my GTO. Heck...I think the one you posted might look even better in my GTO than the one I have in there now. LOL

I like the look of that wheel for a stock style interior. If you're going to do any Auto X or open track events with that car you might want to look for a wheel with lower side spokes so your natural hand position will be at 9 and 3. I went through that with instructors at road course events constantly telling me to change my hand position to 9-3 and finally figured out that the spoke design of the wheel was causing me to naturally keep going back to 10 and 2.

I bought a MOMO Millenium through Frank with an adapter (metal) and that cured my problem. I don't think the Millenium would look right in your interior but the hand position of that style is much more comfortable and you have better control with less hand movement on the wheel during events. I thought I really liked my old wheel, but the MOMO I got from Frank is awesome! The 9-3 hand placement reduced "on track" hand movements by a lot, and the ergononic design is very comfortable whether on track or street.

The one weird thing is that because the MOMO wheel is so comfortable at 9-3, I now have a tendency (without thinking about it) to drive with both hands on the wheel whenever possible even on the street. So I've lost that hot rodder look I used to have with my left hand at 11 and my right hand on the shifter. Probably safer the new way with both hands on the wheel at 9 and 3!

For stock interior I think you already picked your best option. MOMO quality if superior to any Grant wheel.

What is the stock wheel look like? Have you thought about one of the repro Tuff Wheels? If what you have isn't a Tuff already. If you're running basically a stock interior that is I would go. I say that of course because that is the way I'm going, but original Tuff wheel.

That wheel is possibly the best looking wheel i have ever seen. Buy that wheel and it would look great anywhere without looking too bling.
