A coworker has a 69 Camaro w/ 9'" rearend from 67 mustang under it. He wants to upgrade the brakes to disc. We've been looking at the kits on ebay that use stock late model ford parts, but I'm not sure if the staggered shocks will get in the way.
Does anybody know of a swap that will work? (It won't be seeing any track time.)

Thanks,

Jeff

I happen to have a Currie 9" under my 69 with a Wilwood disc brake option so it's certainly possible. I believe that they mentioned something about them being (or modeled after) Ford Explorer brakes so that parts would be easy to get if they are ever needed.

I'd sell them if you're interested! :) Zero miles. I've been pondering a more expensive high dollar set these past few weeks so *something's* getting modded!

PM me if you want, or you could give one of those vendors a call for details.

i've got a currie rerar in my trans am and it came with brackets for 3rd gen f body rear brakes with 11.5" rotors and pbr calipers but the 4th gen brakes fit too just without the internal drum parking brake. the new jegs has a brake kit similar to the 4th gen kit for 9" rears made by currie for $412.

We are running a 9 in our 67 Camaro, we found decent brake kits through stock car parts companies. Brackets, 2 pieace rotors, calipers, all for 350.00, the brackets can be welded on or bolted on. If he is not racing for a living, these will be more fine.

do you happen to have any circle track guys around? the set up that i am running uses just a single bracket that you weld on the axle tube. the parts that i used are the front calipers from a early chevelle, rotors from a 92 crown vic( redrilled to fit chevy bolt pattern), and bracket. this set up only costed me $150 for the whole set up.

Thanks for the input, guys.
Well the techline at Currie says explorer setup (as well as 11" drums) won't fit on the small ends, so I'm still looking for more info.
Here in Texas we have to have an e-brake for state inspection.
Can I use the 90? camaro pbr rear calipers that have the e-brake built in with some ford rotor, or maybe redrill the chevy rotors? Any ideas on the best rotors to try?
If I went that way I could make my own brackets and clock the calipers to clear the shocks.
Any other suggestions are welcome.

Thanks!
Jeff

Hey Jeff,
Do you think one of the separate, aftermarket e-brake systems would give you more options for the rear brakes?

ie. I've read about aftermarket e-brakes that actually work from the driveshaft. Just trying to think 'outside the box' for ya. (yeah, I'm sooo corporate!)

Lokar and other old Hot Rod type places are a good place to ask about such a thing.

Good luck man!

This might help, I set up my 9 inch Currie with a pinion Brake for emergency. Here is a picture of mine:

Bought it here:

Hope this helps.

In the last few pages of the latest PHR magazine they mention what Ummgawa just said.
They have a picture of the setup and mention these two companies:
