I can see why someone would not want to take the pennies.
I do see the humor in it.

If I was the one working behind the counter I'd tell the kid he has to count them out for me. If anyone else came in, or the phone rang I'd make him wait and then come back to him. If he didn't finish by the end of the day they I'd hit him for another day's storage, since he'd have to come back the next day.
We'd see who was laughing then.

a friend and i once got a waitress at Pizza hut to quit by leaving 500 pennies as a tip.
she had an attitude the whole time, and my friend had 500 pennies in his pocket.. so we piled it all up on the table on our way out.

That is funny stuff. Some of these towing companies need this done a little more.

I mean sometimes I save a good one liner for the opertune moment, but 500 pennies!

I just about fell out of my chair laughing when the second cop car rolled in.

Seems like he deserved to get his car towed. 3 cop cars and 7 cops tied up for an hour over a stupid impound fee which he willing paid so probably deserved. What do you think the chnaces are of him getting towed by that company again every chance they get? Still funny.

he was going to take it to the bank and cash it in to buy some smokes later. they were in a sandwich bag in his pocket.
i bought the lunch at the Hut- with $1 bills, as it turned out- and he left the tip.

It's been tried at the tow company i used to work at, we refused payment and won. The customer has to count out the money. It's on *them*. Asking the vendor to count out that money is billable time. A huge service fee can be charged. See the following legal precedent.

They have such a racket going with the cops. They only accept cash, so if you don't have the money, they keep your car until you get paid again and by that time the fee goes up. Also, there is no refunding when your car is towed, even if you are found legitimately innocent.

I got pulled over for speeding in feb of '08, and even though I had insurance and showed the card, the cop checked "no" for insurance. When they sent me a notice to provide proof of ins. they sent it to an old address. I never got it. So they suspended my license and I was arrested, my truck was impounded. The judge threw the case out and said I should never have been arrested or had my license suspended and even commended me for doing my homework (i got my suspension removed before my court date which was the very next afternoon).

But I never got refunded for the $150 it cost to get my truck out. Bail and bond were refunded 100%.

:idea:I wonder if the wife will take the pennies over the c/c when she goes out to buy another purse. At least I will know why she will need another purse.:rotfl::rotfl::yeah:

Ok, back in college I was broke. I blew the rear in my 82 TA. So my girlfriend at the time lent me the money to get a junk yard rear, ~$300. The deal was I'd pay her back when I work after spring semester.

Fast forward a few months, I catch her cheating on me. Ok, she's gone but I still have to pay her back, it's the right thing to do. So we empty out a beer ball (http://image20.webshots.com/20/9/63/80/195496380OTohnw_fs.jpg) (remember those?) and make a bank out of it. Over the semester we fill it with change. People who come over for parties bring change. It became a Save Ferris type deal.

Anyhoo, at the end of the semester we counted the $$, took out the parkway tokens and extra money (that shocked us), and trash like bottle caps, and put the exact change back in the ball. I then delivered it. All she said was "ok, I deserve that'.

Ah, revenge.
